Then a 30-Day Retreat to Portland, Oregon. Ok not a technical retreat, it was meant to be permanent but it surely didn't work out that way.

Beautiful. The trees and forest...wow. When you get up by Spokane, Washington or in Spokane, Washington, just amazingly beautiful. I took a 3-day bus trip out there and back(went a different route back)when we hit Spokane, and the northern tip of Oregon, it was so freaking beautiful. Winding down some mountains right on Thanksgiving, and the snow was on the mountains. Downtown Portland, is absolutely beautiful. I wouldn't call Portland a blue collar city but I liked what I heard it called and thought it was fair from what I experienced of it...it is small city mentality but a big city. Where I was living at, you could see downtown, and it was in an apartment complex up on a hill. Saw a beautiful waterfall. Very nice bars. That was the highlight of being out there for me, besides some 'other stuff' but the bar scene I really liked out there. I met some very cool people and the bars themselves were great. From what I hear, if you have a little liberal streak in you, Oregon is the place to be. There team beat Michigan last year...LOVED it(The Wolverines are my arch-nemesis for NCAA football).

That's about all I can say really. I didn't spend enough time out there to get to know the city and state that well, but it does count as a place that I was intending on being at as a home.

Oh, Im_A...

I do hate the malls (sorry to stick a fork in that cliché ;) ), but I'd LOVE to see some pics of either Ohio or PA if you've got 'em, buddy!
You'd find something you like there...trust me. Take away the cliched' thinking about it...its just a sheer logical probability because of how many stores are there and the things to do there.

Lol no, I meant the cliché about women loving shopping malls. It's not true for many women out there, including myself.

I know that's what you meant. Yet it doesn't matter if someone doesn't like malls or not...if there are ton of stores, you are going to find something you either one like or need there, and with the restaurants they have(they don't have like food marts, they have restaurants all over the place), your going to find at least one thing you like there.

Any pictures I have is not online or anything like that. I'm going to send you a pm to finish that last part of the response.

Plymouth has the Mayflower steps but they are not the ones that people say they are, actually the real steps are located in a pub's female bathroom opposite.

We have Dartmoor National Park not too far away, Peter Jackson had considered using it in the filming of LOTR.

We have a National Marine Aquarium

Beautiful coastline. The Beatles once visited The Hoe.

We also have a old historic town called The Barbican. In that area, lived a recent famous artist who died a few years ago. His stuff is worth millions but he died with £12 to his name and had a stuffed deceased homeless man stored in the cupboard (this man used to be his subject and agreed to it).

I'm from Knoxville, Tennessee. I used to think Tennessee was the lamest place ever but then I traveled around and realized how much I loved it. It's beautiful here. There's mountains and rivers and lake to die for. There's some beautiful old houses around here. The culture is vibrant and booming. The food is great. The people are awesome. I really think if you've not been to the South you are missing out. I recently traveled to the midwest and I really enjoyed it, but going out there made me realized that Tennessee and the south are truly special. everybody thinks we are rednecks and hicks but honestly the culture down here is diverse and vibrant. Also you can go to almost any club or theater and hear some amazing music. You can get incredible hand-made anything here. And the people are very friendly.

I was about to tap out and claim Becky the victor of this thread, but really.. it isn't a contest (beautiful pictures though, Becky ). ;)

I've actually been to the South and enjoyed it, but I would've liked to have gone to New Orleans prior to the devastation that struck there. I've heard they are re-building, but that some areas are still "under construction" as it were. I've gone to Graceland and to Georgia, down by the base (which, I guess, no longer exists?). So nice down in GA.

Of all of your pictures, I find this one beckons to me the most. I would love to walk around there with my camera - and potentially another person. :dontcare:

;)

Edit: Becky, was there a hedge maze in any of these places? :p
