  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In Mark 6, Jesus was “amazed, marveled, wondered” at the refusal of those who came to hear Him to believe.

Mark 6:6

And he was amazed at their lack of faith.

It seems Jesus would not have been amazed at the lack of people’s faith if it were the norm for men to be unable to believe. In fact, He should have expected the absence of faith from unregenerate men, and He should have expected nothing less than a faith response from those who had been regenerated. So, why was He amazed?

Jesus was also amazed at the Centurion who had great faith.

Luke 7:9-10
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, "I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel." 10 Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well.

Again, if faith could only come to men by the direct intervention of God in regeneration, and specifically if this man's faith had come in such a way, Jesus certainly would not have been amazed at that normal operation of the Spirit. After all, this is what the Spirit does, right? So again, why would Jesus be amazed?
