  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Oh yeah! Gideon was a very holy fellow. Killed his daughter to celebrate a military victory. Just another edifying Bible story!

Have you read Judges? God uses people not because they were super duper saints but men with flaws. Every single one of the judges in Judges had a serious flaw.
Where is it written Gideon killed his daughter?
Um, I think you might have got him mixed up with Jephthah.
Jephthah killed his daughter?

Yes both could be possible.
Indeed.

As with my post on putting the four Gospels together to get the full picture of what was written and placed on the Cross, one must put the Gospels together to get all seven sayings of Jesus on the Cross as well.

In like manner, one must put Matthew & Acts together to get the full picture of how Judas died.

That wouldn't make sense. Are you telling me Jephthah fear God enough to keep a vow while at the same time killed his daughter which God was clearly against? She more likely became a living sacrifice which was almost as bad since this would mean Jephthah would not have any grandchildren.

I am not telling you anything; I just referred you to the relevant biblical passage.

The moral of the story, I suppose, is not to be too free with your tongue, when you are making vows to God.
