Why unbelievers cannot understand

Martymonster mentioned before that it is God who gives belief and unbelief, this is true, it is God who hardens it is God who shows mercy....

Really? What about all the passages of Scripture that point toward man hardening his own heart and turning from God?

...but everything God does leads to the eventual Salvation of all.

God does not go about doing things the way men would, everything God does will lead to his ultimate Glorification by all.

What do you mean by "eventual salvation?" What does your belief system speak about salvation? Please explain. I'm interested in the specifics.

So what's that got to do with the Bible being the word of God? The (or even a) word about God, but not of God, surely? Of course, there are plenty of other books about God as well.

Great. But you asked if my God was God or a book, and I gave you an answer to that question.

The reason unbelievers do not understand is because they do not believe, and they do not believe because God has not given them that belief.

No one decides to just believe, it is God who chooses who is to believe and who is not!

God said faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. It is God's desire that all may believe and that no one should parish...so it is up to us Christians to teach others so they may hear.

I think that believing in God/Christ as only a means of salvation is very self-serving sometimes. I find it more important to believe, try to live a good life and to help others do the same in order to create a better world to live in.

I think Jesus was up for that too.
