at the time it was changed we were told that we had no say in the matter, that it would be edited, period. and it was. by a member of the non-WOF forum.
Thanx, Lis. But I am quite comfortable living under the same roof with WOF. For some reason, they are just not comfortable with me and those who share similar beliefs to mine.
I am quite at peace with those who disagree with me and I am sure of what I believe, despite my detractors. On occasion, they have even proven me wrong and I am grateful for the learning process, not threatened at all. ~Jim
I stand by what I said, Pete. There has been no appreciable exodus from this forum and I do not remember a time when we consistently had 20-30 afternoon members posting in this SFPC forum.
It is now 5:15 and we have 15 in the SFPC forum as I type (11 members, 4 visitors). That is about what we have always had. This mythological attrition of members being "driven off" by our debates (discussions) just does not stand up to actuality.
the current WOF statement of faith is what someone else believes that we believe, and what was written for us by someone who is not WOF.
we had no choice in the matter of what passes as our statement of faith.
i have a copy of what we actually believe.
That is not true. The SoF for both WOF and the Charismatic Non-WoF were taken from the SOFs developed by the members themselves back in the days of the wiki. They are briefer - and that is all.
there is a lot i could say in response to this, but the original question was why were WOF talking about things that were not in their SOF.
1. not only is the current SOF briefer, but several points that the membership agreed upon were subsequently removed from the current version. and thus it is an inaccurate picture of what we believe.
2. the verifying scriptures in the original SOF were completely stripped from the current version, so that what is stated appears to be based only on man's opinion, and not on the word of God.
3. The current version includes things that were never in the original, and thus were not approved by the membership.
4. and it is a view of WOF thru the lense of one who is not WOF.
and no, it was not meh who was involved in the decision that gave us what you see today.
Another thread to look at is is the Assemblies of God WOF? Look at this last page or so of it and tell me there doesnt need to be a seperation or else a tightening of definitions, this is why we bleed members.

Actually, this is about doctrines that people who think that they are standing on principle when in reality they may be only insisting on their opinion that are causing division instead of creating unity.
That is sort of how WOF looks at it as well so I say split rather than keep this up. There can be no unity when doctrines are so diametricly opposed. And yes, it is costing members and has for a long time.Actually, this is about doctrines that people who think that they are standing on principle when in reality they may be only insisting on their opinion that are causing division instead of creating unity.
Why I could suggest the same to you but then there would be no one to oppose so ardently.Or, you can always start your own forum.
And, FTR, we are not bleeding members and we never have. Participation in the SFPC forum has remained stable since I joined it in 2004.

But Im happy with this forum just as it is (and always has been since I joined in 2004). It has always been WOF pushing their agenda and the rest of us opposing. It has been that way from the day I joined.
