  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This senseless act of mass murder must be stopped immediately. Thousands of innocent people are dying every day, and thousands more will die if this massacre isn't stopped!

America says this war is about liberating the Iraqis and stopping Saddam, but it is really about oil, money, and power. The Iraqi people are being slaughtered, not liberated, and Saddam and his regime are still in power. American and British soldiers are also dying in this conflict. Iraq is being destroyed, not liberated.

This war must be stopped now before many more people are killed.

Thousands more will die even if the war is stopped. Based on his record, Saddam Hussein has a bad habit of killing the people he supposedly governs.

I doubt "thousands of innocent people" are dying every day.
It's not a senseless act of mass murder.

Hyperboles?
Let's stick to being factually correct.
I'd say at the current rate maybe hundreds of civilians are getting killed per week.
There is no mass murder. Murder implies intentional killing.

there's a contradiction in your statement.
The UN inspections would never have removed Saddam since there was no authorisation given for regime change.

If you argue that Saddam needs to be removed from power, then you have to do something outside the UN since the UN has never sanctioned removing a government from a soveriegn nation.

oh man do my eyes decieve me is datan arguing a semi war is ok stance.

Ok the thousands number is way exaggerated, hmm check your facts.

I just got through watching on news a british reporter who was with group of troops handing out aid. the Iraqi people were desperate for the food and water. But what happens the Iraqi militia started firing in the crowd of civilians. So the aid had to be withdrawn till that group of militia people were taken care of.

I honestly think when the war is over and everything comes out, Saddam's henchmen or military will have killed more innocent civilians than the accidents by the coalition forces.

Saddam Hussein needs to be removed from power, but killing thousands of innocent people in an unneccessary war is not the way to do it.
Saddam Hussein has proven that he is not about to leave voluntarily, and the UN has no ability to remove him. Hussein has a considerably large number of professional soldiers who are willing to die for him and who protect him day and night.

So, without going to war to remove him from power, just how, exactly, do you propose to do it?

God is in control and He will stop the war when His plan for it is complete.

Why would you hold God responsible for this mess? It's our mess, not God's.
I hardly think God wants us to go to war and murder each other.

Of COURSE it's not about the oil. George Bush has stock in oil. By going to war, he is LOSING money. We are in this war to stop a maniacal killer and his maniacal sons from ruling a country. If we back out, we are betraying the people of Iraq, who NEED our help. It's our duty as the most powerful nation, to help other nations in need, if we have the power to do so. And we do. And I don't know if anyone meantioned weapons of mass destruction, but I'll just say it- A LOT of countries have weapons of mass destruction. It's okay to have weapons of mass destruction. But you DO NOT need weapons of mass destruction to defend yourself. And biological warfare weapons should not be in the hands of a maniac, anyways! I know it's not the kind of thing that we want to know about, but Saddam Hussein has been known to put his enemies into plastic shredders, feet first, so their screams can be heard as they are ripped to shreds. That is NOT the kind of person that we want ruling a country. Think of it in smaller terms. Do you want an insane asylum escapee running around with a revolver? No! And we do not want someone like Saddam Hussein ruling Iraq any longer if we can do something to stop it, which we can. Geez, I could rant forever but my fingers are sore. Why can we not just support our troops, and trust in God? That's what I'm gonna' do.

You mean like they had been for years, meanwhile Saddam continued to stockpile weapons?

Saddam was not willing to cooperate. He lied over and over. He never told us what he did with all the WMDs the UN tagged before being forced out.

So when the bible says there is a time for war and a time for peace, it was lying?

Notice how they casually ignored the millions Saddam has already killed and the tens of thousands that die every year?

it really shows how these people have no grip on reality. They don't believe suffering takes place unless it's on the 10 o'clock news.
