Why the 'obsession' with homosexuality?

See, even if you believe in an absolute morality (I do) you have to understand that each being (be it an individual, a community, or a society) has there own moral system separate from the absolute one. If everyone on a personal basis followed an(the) absolute morality, then it would all combine into a single thing, but not every does, some people have there own morality, and when decided what is the law of the land, we must take that into consideration. If you want, go and found yourself a theocracy.

Not just Christian learning but it's detrimental to Christianity as a whole.

Most people in modern society have at the very least encountered homosexuals, if they don't actually have any homosexual friends or colleagues. They aren't taken in by the Christians running around waving their arms screaming "its eeeeeeviiiil!" because they simply know better.

For Christians to go around saying things that are blindingly obviously incorrect just makes their whole ministry suspect. They appear irrelevant and people just stop listening to what they have to say.

Christianity needs to move with the times or be left floundering around in the past in my opinion. Claiming the moral high ground while wallowing around in the mud can only damage it's cause.

In short, if you're going to say something ludicrous, think twice.

That is why billions of people everywhere are determined to have their children taught sex education by practicing homosexuals... I'm being facetious of course; however, the point is that most average people have limitations to what they would let someone do depending on his/her influences.

People who have and promote their own personal morality are in rebellion to GOD.

I think some christians are worried because the gay community is going after marriage(holy matrimony), and thus an attack on family and children. Marriage is a great stabilizing factor on society, and if it is changed a whole ripple wave effect of problems will happen in the future.. Personally I don't think they would be in the limelight if they would keep it out of the courts and out of marriage. I don't think the gay community understands the effect of what changing marriage would do to the dignity and structure of marriage.

Because there are a lot of people who don't believe that it IS a sin, and don't believe in speaking for G-d.

That's because there is no evidence that it was.

and that when homosexuality is condemned in the NT it means only if its a "straight person who wants to have sex with men, not a gay person".

And it's possible that that IS what it meant - Too much is open to interpretation, and anyone who says they know unequivocally what G-d wants is unbelievably arrogant to think that they can speak for Him.

The thread pretty much becomes a sin justifying thread for gay persons looking for justification and has nothing conductive to christian learning. These forums should be about learning not justifying sin to make yourself feel better.

My daughter goes to a youth group locally for GLBT kids and their allies. About 1/4 of the kids who go are straight... it's funny, they don't become gay, bi or transgendered by hanging out with their GLBT friends and being a public support. They do have an impact on the level of abuse GLBT kids suffer in school and in other institutional settings by demonstrating that you can be friends with someone who is not straight and you won't be hit on, or pressured to participate in stuff you aren't uncomfortable with. In fact a couple of my daughter's friends prefer hanging out with the youth group kids because they get LESS pressure to be sexually active.

The schools that have GSA's or reps from GLSEN certainly don't have an increase in the number of GLBT students, but they might have a decrease in the number of hate crimes perpetrated against GLBT students.

Children without mother(or father) is probably the biggest problem. Not only does it create awkwardness in the child which will effect his growing up but it will dull the paternal instinct that the child needs and responds too. Paternal instinct is very important in family and for the development in the child. The chivalry of husband and wife will be damaged..

This is a PRATT. There are dozens of studies, published and peer reviewed that illustrate quite the opposite. Besides, kids that grow up with gay parents aren't deprived of any certain gender role role model (whether gender roles are a good/bad thing is for another thread) because of the role of extended family members. (I feel like I said "role" far too many times in that last sentence.)

So, you got anything else, or is this it?

To be facetious back:
Why would the orientation of the sex ed teacher matter? Do practicing heterosexuals have a better knowledge of health and biology than homosexuals?

We all have limitations on what we would do, what we would let someone else do to us, what we would let someone else do to someone else when that someone else is unconsenting. We don't all feel the need to put limits on what other people "do"

Personally I don't see the reason to demand others not do things just because I find those things less than appealing or not acceptable to my standards.

you can't just dismiss it. The problem still remains. It is known, for thousands of years, that a child instinctively responds and needs both mother and father.
