Why the Mystery ... ?

(1 Corinthians 2:6-8) Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: {7} But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: {8} Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

Crossreference that with Job 5:13 to get the why:

(Job 5:13) He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.

Satan had a wise plan;

(Isaiah 14:12-14) How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! {13} For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: {14} I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

The Bible defines “most High”:

(Genesis 14:19) And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

(Genesis 14:22) And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,

Up until the Apostle Paul it was only revealed, spoken by the mouth of the holy prophets that God was going to restore his rule and authority in the earth.

Satan thought that he knew it all and no secret could be kept from him:

(Ezekiel 28:3-4) Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee: {4} With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures:

However, God had a secret:

(Romans 16:25) Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

The mystery revelation that was revealed to the Apostle Paul shows that God is wiser than Satan (in other words, God hid a secret from him).

It is through the very thing that Satan thought he would secure his being like the “most High” (by crucifying the Lord Jesus Christ) that proved to be his down fall.

(1 Corinthians 1:18-19) For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. {19} For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

(Ephesians 3:9-11) And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: {10} To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, {11} According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

All this to show that there is only one wise God:

(1 Timothy 1:17) Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

(Jude 1:25) To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and for ever. Amen.

Had satan know the purpose of the Cross he would have "worked like the devil" to keep Christ from it. Figuratively speaking, "he shot himself in the foot" and his demise will be from The BLOOD poisoning.

Again when you take something out of context you can make up any belief and get the Bible to agree with you.

It has nothing to do with a different gospel. Paul says it as plain as day that the mystery was and is that the Gentiles are fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of God's promise in Christ. The mystery is that now no longer is salvation of the Jews because God has brought Jews and Gentiles together in one body, the body of Christ. There are not two olive trees in the Bible. We, as wild branches, are all grafted into the same olive tree that the believing Jews, who are the natural branches, are dwelling.

Of course, I realize that the scriptures will not change your mind because you have your mind made up all ready.

The Seed of the Woman was the Mystery -to come--and only because His name was secret [He was not come in human flesh of the second creation, yet] and He was with God and was God and was concealed, Hidden in God, from the beginning, until the time of His "revealing", which is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh----received up into heaven; where He is with the Father, not seen, and all who are born again in Spirit are now hid with Christ in God! -and shall appear with Him in glory when He appears -as John the Revelator of His "appearing" has shown.


His name was secret because He was not "made flesh" -not yet come incarnate as the second human being to be Kinsman/Redeemer in human being flesh to Adam, the dead in spirit and no longer son of God, being, though He was with God and was God, from the beginning.

He appeared pre-incarnate to Manoah and wife;

Who could tell His name?

He gave His secret New Man name to Jacob -as a sign;

Jacob got it!

And called an altar by His "Mighty Name";

He was Hid in God from the beginning; His name is Israel as to His human being flesh of the second creation;

He is come in flesh as "YHWH SEEN" whom AbraHAm named Mount Moriah after, with His nameYHWH SEEN, on which Jerusalem sits, when in Genesis 22 AbraHAm was given the oracle of the Day of Jesus' Atonement as Lamb of God for all in Adam, to act out as a prophet of the living oracle later committed to the nation of Israel to keep and act out in the shadow of it's fulfillment to come.

Therefore, because He gave Jacob His own New Man name as a sign of the New Creation Son of God to come in flesh as Kinsman Redeemer of Adam, Israel the nation is "My people, called by My name".

In Adam all die, in Christ -the Living Spirit- all are made alive; but you gotta be born [generated again] into His Living Spirit to be born again [generated again] into His New Man image of second human being flesh, in the resurrection.

And Tychicum -guess where His name was revealed first as "secret"?, when He was Hidden in God from the beginning and was with God and was God, but was concealed [not made flesh] until the time of His revealing?

Not sure about that... The mystery was always about Eternal life for his children-The mystery was how?
The prophets pointed to Messiah obtaining the keys of death, and setting all those who will ,to be free-through his own blood -shed for us- all is revealed by Jesus Christ life work.......not Paul's.

Jeff there are several mysteries with mysteries in Scripture. I am pretty sure no one has plumbed the depths of all of them. Like all of the attributes of God ... it may be infinite and we are only scratching the surface.
