The American public is pretty smart - they will not tolerate being lied to for very long. They take their presence and go someplace else - As your links clearly demonstrate.

The 2020 election demonstrated it pretty well also.

But the events of January 6 demonstrate that not quite all o the American public is quite so smart.

This is another reason why the Jan 6 drama will fail - just like Mueller and the other 900 Congressional investigations against President Trump.

Why the Jan. 6 committee is doomed to fail

The Jan. 6 committee is not really a committee of Congress like normal people understand that term, nor is it an arm of the judiciary, nor is it restrained by things like rules of evidence, restrictions against hearsay or requirements to share information with opposing counsel.

There is no opposing counsel. There are no judge, no jury, no rules, and no cross-examination of witnesses. Nothing but a propaganda machine, replete with soundbites and visuals and slick production values. It even hired a television producer to improve the look.

The Jan. 6 reality-television show has nothing to do with assessing guilt and assigning punishment. That is, as it has been for some time, happening over at the D.C. courthouse, where it is grinding patiently through the actual administration of justice in this matter.

Moreover, the committee is not even in any sense a congressional committee, as the minority members were chosen by the House speaker rather than the minority party. That fact, which has become obscured over time, is enough to disqualify the committee as a legitimate function of Congress.

Why suppress the testimony? Let the Secret Service agents testify in public? Then the public can decide who is telling the truth. But no, this is a show, a con. The committee had suppressed information long enough, they have zero credibility.

Why haven’t these secrete service agents held a press hearing and gone on the record? Nothing is stopping them from speaking to the public. They haven’t even said anything to the press.

The incident in question was salacious but hardly central to the evidence being presented by the committee. Nothing is hinging on whether Trump grabbed a steering wheel.

Secret Service officials have retained private counsel.

After the Thursday hearing, Lofgren confirmed in a conversation to CNN that those who have retained private counsel, before the criminal probe was announced are, Tony Ornato, who currently serves as the Assistant Director of the United States Secret Service Office of Training, Special Agent in Charge Robert 'Bobby' Engel, who was the lead agent on Trump's detail, and the driver of the SUV.

The committee refuses to call them, the Secret Service has put out a statement. Let the committee members interrogate them in public--the committee bombshell information was hearsay, and they don't want the American people to hear what the eyewitnesses have to say.

Cassidy Hutchinson admits of lying | BLiTZ That reflects negatively on her later statements. But what is more important is that the committee previewed the testimony as bombshell but knew it was only hearsay. And I publicly called for them to have the people who were there testify, whether before the committee or in a statement. But the committee did not have the honor or integrity to take a statement from the people who were there. This kind of behavior is reprehensible, and ALL Americans should be outraged.

You mean when her Trump aligned attorney indirectly encouraged perjury.

I can't seem to find where her exact mistruths are spelled out though.

It's a show. There big surprise witness was contradicted by the Secret Service, and the committee continues to refuse to allow the Secret Service to testify so the American people can hear both sides. Just like they are surpressing testimony from five people who testified that President Trump offered National Guard troops. They are using taxpayer money to promote their own political agenda, and I hope that after this session of Congress the select committee members are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

The big suprise witness testified under oath. The secret service scoffed at what she testified in public, but once under oath they testified "they couldn't recall" and "I don't remember."

Its purpose is to investigate the events of Jan 6 and report that to We The People. The only way that it is failing in that task is that a large segment of We The People is closing its eyes and ears.

That may be what they are supposed to be doing, but they are doing the opposite.
