I live in Texas, down in the bible belt, where Christian values are "Most common", and yet, I feel completely hated. I am Jewish, and everyone where I live in my school treats me awfully, usually insulting my specific Faith or other things relating to such. This is a 90% thing, where most of 'em do it (There are some who truly follow the rules you folks stand by, and one of those folks is my role-model for how I should act, as he is such a good person), and the odds of a change in a person is rare.
I avoid bothering these people with specific cause, as they just hate me without cause aside from religion in the first place (I know for a fact it is my faith that annoys some of them, as they were pretty friendly in most cases before some teacher bone-headedly asks me to answer a certain question because "I'm Jewish" and apparently know the answer to all possible OT questions). Heck, even in classes, I have trouble. Whenever discussion turns to the NT, multiple classmates and even a few teachers have tried to "Trip me up" to prove I am wrong in my beliefs as a Jew. I can't understand how one religion as a whole, at least towards me, can be so rude.
I know I don't insult their religion, as I avoid answering religious questions when possible, and never make religious jokes about them (Something they seem fine with doing against me), which I find quite appalling. Heck, I only have this issue with the CHRISTIAN populace! When it comes to the few local muslims, we are all incredibly friendly (Though I get the idea they get similiar insults from the Christians in my area). I know my area is not proof of an entire religion, nor of even an entire area of a State, but I still wonder, WHY, among some of the most religious people, Why the hating? I ask you, the folks at CF, because I assume at least one of you lives in a place like this, or has seen such an occurence, and can try to explain why the heck they would do this.
