There is one thing the Bible teaches about the mark that people who teach that Sunday Worship being the mark of the beast leave out. The Bible teaches that those who take it have a bad, loathsome sore. Therefore, the mark is most likely literal/physical. Also "mark" is translated from "karagma". "Karagma" means STAMPED mark. In that case, the mark would be literal somewhat.

I also think that the mark could be bowing down to the Antichrist and to make sure you really did it, you would recieve a LITERAL symbol in the right hand or the forehead.

Also, I learned that when God gave the Sabbath, it was for Israel and the Jews, not for the church. We should worship God EVERY DAY. I also heard that the Sabbath was a ceremonial law and it has been fulfilled and you have your rest in Jesus.

Finally, no where in the Bible does it say that Sabbath breakers will go to the lake of fire. Jesus never said that ye must keep the Sabbath for Salvation. He taught that we must put our faith in him and repent to be saved and that we are to love Christ. True, we do need works but the motive for works should be LOVE, not to get saved.

God Bless.

I don't believe that the mark is literal/physical (check the symbolism - the hand is what you do and the head is how you think) but I don't think it is Sunday. Those who believe this must play a game of connect-the-dots which isn't in Revelation. Chapters 13-14 do not mention at all the Sabbath and Sunday as tests of worship. The main thrust of those chapters is to contrast those who worship God with those who worship something other than God. It is not about those who worship God in one way and those who worship in another.

And yes, dispite what some may think, salvation comes by grace through faith. It does not come through keeping the Sabbath on saturday or sunday. What we have is really just different people convicted to follow their Saviour in different ways, with different cultural backgrounds.

Hi Elife, nice to meet you:)

I think the verse you have in mind is Revelation 16:2, which says:

"So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth; and it became a loathsome and malignant sore on the people who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped his image." Revelation 16:2

Note from this verse that the loathsome sore is given to those who "had" the mark of the beast - ie, the mark is a pre-requisite to receiving the sore. The sore itself is simply one of the seven last plagues, pored out on mankind after probation closes.

Did you know that worship of the beast's image is stressed more times in Revelation than receiving his mark? Before we understand what the mark is, we must understand who or what the beast is, and make sure we are not worshipping his image. Do you have any opinion on what the image of the beast is?

I also think that the mark could be bowing down to the Antichrist and to make sure you really did it, you would recieve a LITERAL symbol in the right hand or the forehead.

Again, what is the "Antichrist"? According to Scripture, there are many, many antichrist in the world:

"and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world." 1 John 4:3

John states the spirit of antichrist was already in the world back in his day! So, the common idea of a literal "Antichrist" person is actually faulty. Could it be, that the great deception of satan is the age-old trick of misdirection? Look that way, while the real evil going on right in front of us!

Also, I learned that when God gave the Sabbath, it was for Israel and the Jews, not for the church. We should worship God EVERY DAY. I also heard that the Sabbath was a ceremonial law and it has been fulfilled and you have your rest in Jesus.

Not to derail the purpose of the thread, but there is a bit more to the argument than this. Have you done much research?

God sanctified the seventh-day at Creation - before any stain of sin was in the world...I didn't know Adam and Eve were Jews?!;) Ceremonial laws pointed to the Great Sacrifice which was fulfilled by Christ Jesus at calvary. How could the Sabbath shadow Christ when sin was not yet known on earth? Why would God write 9 moral laws on stone, and then add one ceremonial law, right in the centre?

Finally, no where in the Bible does it say that Sabbath breakers will go to the lake of fire. Jesus never said that ye must keep the Sabbath for Salvation. He taught that we must put our faith in him and repent to be saved and that we are to love Christ. True, we do need works but the motive for works should be LOVE, not to get saved.

God Bless.

Amen.

However, one last point. You said, "Jesus never said that ye must keep the Sabbath for salvation."

True - but what did He actually say to the rich young Ruler, who asked what he must do to be saved? "If you wish to enter life, keep the commandments." Did he actually mean only 9 of the 10?

Didn't He also say that "Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven..."

God Bless,

Jon

^ As for the image of the beast, I think it could be his likeness or looks. This is from a literal viewpoint. Could it be a real image? His image could be a picture or trying to get his characteristics, which is NOT the fruit of the spirit. Since the beast is the opposite of God, Worshipping his image could be seeking a life of sin/following after the flesh INSTEAD of the Spirit which God wants us to follow.
