  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

oi_antz, thanks for the reconciliation you offered, it speaks greatly of the work of the HS in the lives of HIs people.

Two glaring questions I still have for you...1. in light of Isaiah 53 and other passages, how can you say that God turned away out of grief and not out of wrath for the sin that Jesus bore on the cross? and 2. what makes you think that eternal separation from God is a punishment and not a consequence? If I understand what makes you think that, I can tailor my passage supports accordingly.

I'm not a big fan of "Substitutionary Atonement". However....
I do think God kept the Blood Covenant with Abraham & descendants.
I do think the descendants broke the Covenant.
But I'm not sure if God paid in Blood to directly atone for our breaking of the Covenant.
Or if God paid in Blood so He could break His half of the Covenant to allow Him to take us back.

What do you mean by blood covenant? Abraham's blessings were because of his faith.

I am a little confused by substitutionary atonement and how we are looking at this.

We all have substitutionary atonement in Jesus Christ. It is not us, but Christ's righteousness that is given to us. He was the substitute who paid the penalty of the sins of mankind. So I'm a little confused.

You said it was a covenant though. I do not see anything in your verses about a covenant between man (Abraham) and God in that verse.

Also, Merry Christmas to all! Have a wonderful day.
Verse 18 specifically says "covenant".
If you want a eye opener; study the actual meaning of this type of covenant between men.
