Interesting post, though I see nobody saying 'I am of Peter.'Yep, you're also right about that. When folks say, I am of Peter, we immediately know that scripture says, they're carnal, babies in Christ.

Who here immediately knows what is written in Hebrews regarding submitting to elders/authorities?
I skimmed and thought you were talking about Paul since one of the other posters mentioned him too in response to yours. Now that I read your post more carefully (Eunich is spelled Eunuch btw) I can see who you meant. But the focal point of my answer remains the same regardless. That's really sorta funny
(it was Philip, not Paul)
1Pe 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, be subject unto the elder. Yea, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to serve one another: for God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.
Better yet. Why did they have to have a council to decide the question regarding the Law of circumcision on the Gentile converts if sS was good enough. Then why did Paul have to explain for us what some OT scriptures were hinting at?
How do you know who has the higher level of understanding and who doesn't in order to not waste your time learning from some fool preaching the word of man?Not only that but there are different levels of understanding and maturity in
Christ... There are "ministers" (we're ALL able ministers) that know way less
about the kingdom than some of the GT posters..
(No, i didn't say "posers")
Glad you're back Arbiter
Better yet. Why did they have to have a council to decide the question regarding the Law of circumcision on the Gentile converts if sS was good enough.
Answer: Because it's not.

Or further, why did we have to have a council to decide anything if SS was enough??
Non sequitur.Better yet. Why did they have to have a council to decide the question regarding the Law of circumcision on the Gentile converts if sS was good enough.

You mean from my own experience? How do you know who has the higher level of understanding and who doesn't in order to not waste your time learning from some fool preaching the word of man?
Sorry but she is right. It is The Holy Spirit within us that shall lead us into all truth. Only GOD is trustworthy, not men.
that sounds very pantheistic.Yes, Jesus is actually all in all.
And we don't think you understand the power of 1 Timothy 3:15, Matthew 18:18, or Thessalonians 2:15. In fact you simply ignore them or screen over them without any comment. And I think you do that because you know they discredit sola scriptura.I think that's because of what you're used to ..
and so tbh, and meaning no disrespect, I feel that
the EO and RCC don't understand the power of the
"IT IS WRITTEN" that is needful to walk in victory
in this life.
Jesus, while a man on Earth, was a sola scripturist.
You may as well throw away the bible then with that view if your gonna disconnect men from God's revelation.
Can you image if the Hebrews said something like that to Moses? This attitude kinda reminds me of Korah.
not men? Like Moses, Paul, James, Peter, Jeremiah, Aaron, David, Ezekial, Isaiah, Jonah, Obadiah, Titus, Baruch, Joseph, Abraham, Jacob, Elijah, Elisha, and Solomon?
If you did some bible study, you will find that God tends to speak through men. Hence what some men say obviously is important.
Never realised it until you posted this, but I think He was referring to Himself in a roundabout way. After all, Jesus is called the Word.
Non sequitur.
You can have a meeting and still use the Bible as your standard.
God bless you.
I wouldn't exclude that idea at all, but I think in a larger sense, Christ was talking about the scriptures. Remember that prayer was for the disciples and for us as well. The written word sanctifies us for it leads us to the living Word. At least, that's how I see it.
God always blesses us THROUGH men.I don't think it's irrelevant. If we are all equipped with the Holy Spirit and able to discern the word by ourselves, then why would a council be necessary to discuss and to formulate doctrine? It should be obvious from scripture to each person, should it not?
And what tradition led you to believe that he is talking solely about the written word in this sense, and a) not Himself, and b) not the spoken word of God. Could he not be referring to all three at the same time?
Again, is Christ not the Word of God in flesh? What other word of God is there but Him?
