Why should I beleive a book, over empiricall knowledge?

Jesus was [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]ed off becouse people were taking the Bible too literally, and forgetting about the underlying message of love. Love of all people, no matter what.

Please explain.

The Bible was never intended to be taken literally. And many of the acounts written in the New Testement (as im sure you are aware of) were exadurated to convince Jews to follow the word of Christ.

The argument that Christians don't think for themselves would only work with people if they'd been devoutly Christian their whole life, and knew no other way to look at things. There are some folks like that, and those people would certainly be subject to that argument. But even then it varies from person to person.

In born again people, many realize they have made mistakes and realize the truth of Jesus Christ and God's grace and love for all, and how he wishes all to be near him and wishes to forgive our sins if we accept Him.

You may say any religious person is near God through their own ways. But Jesus also said nobody knows God except through him. So in that way, you need Jesus to bring yourself close to a meaningful God.

And also, the part about a "metaphor "for love is the part about Jesus dying for every person who existed, exists, and will exist. And I'd say there is reasonable evidence Jesus actually did die on the cross. Since I'm not very good at explaining, if you're really interested in searching into that idea, read Case for Christ or Case for Faith by Lee Strobel. I'm sure there are hundreds of other books on the topic.

I'll admit I'm probably not very good at organizing my ideas. Ah well, I tried.

And I certainly don't agree or understand the idea of the NT being exaggerated to convert Jews. If any of the New Testament writers were messing with things like that, others who truly followed Christ would've stepped up and corrected such issues.

Paul also talked to Peter and other disciples to make sure he didn't overshoot Jesus's message in his preaching and writings to people he visited.

There are cases of exaggeration, mainly in Gospels that came much later, like the Gospels of Mary, Peter, Thomas...etc. The council deciding the books that would form the New Testament realized which books should be put in for the reason of validity and credibility. If you look too, the majority if not all of the books of the New Testament were written by people who knew Jesus, lived in the time period of his life and death, or knew the eyewitnesses of Jesus' works and preachings.
