Why do you pray?

I primarily practice contemplative prayer or meditation.

Unreasonable to question GOD's goodness,
rather question the faith it was asked in
or if it was asked according to His will.

I agree.

Although there is some 'hard stuff' in the Bible, especially the Old Testament, that can make one sometimes wonder about the goodness of God. But it is what it is.

Must be i misunderstood you originally.
I thought you were saying TO question God's faithfulness.

I was listening to a preacher on the radio today who was talking about how if you don't read God's word, He won't answer your prayers. He also said that if you pray for anything for yourself (which is selfish) God will not answer those prayers.

What do you think?

I think we need to spread the truth of the gospel so folks dont have to believe
such bunk ...

It's not selfish to pray for anything for yourself...
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men]
liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.


Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in

God wants His kids to ask Him for everything we need.
That guy has a warped idea of the Father/Son relationship imo.

Lead US not into temptation
Deliver US from evil

Evidently God doesn't think it selfish to pray for
US (more than one of ME lol)

It's ironic that the guy says God wont hear prayer if
you don't read the Bible when the guy clearly hasn't
been reading the Bible lol

Indeed, the Gospels.
I just mentioned the epistles as they are pastoral - they show us the living of the Christian life in action (makes 'misinterpretation' less likely, imo).

Per OP
I was telling my children something today and thought of your OP, Why Pray?

Because my choice to pray or not to pray
for someone.. could affect their entire life.
This is one of our "priestly" duties.
To Intercede on their behalf,
when they're ignorant of the
wiles of the devil..or when they
are backslidden... etc.
