josephus,
sorry to jump in uninvited and all but with reference to your answer to karebu's question -

"We exist because God desires a soul mate. God desires someone to prove his love to."

surely if God needs something outside himself, something external to himself, then he is, in himself, incomplete and, therefore, imperfect.
thanks
bb

Any good parent knows why they chose to have children. Any person who has enjoyed something wants to share that with another.

The community of the Godhead so wanted to share their delight in being with another community of beings, and so mankind was created. the old catechism put sit very neatly. "Man was created to know God and to enjoy Him forever."

:help: It's weird. why bother creating humans in e 1st place? Why are we here for? For wat reasons are we here?!?
It's pretty simple. Because He wanted to and has the power to do it. For His good pleasure we are created.

Re 4:11 “You are worthy, O Lord our God,
to receive glory and honor and power.
For you created all things,
and they exist because you created what you pleased.”

Evil exists and was created as a contrast to good, providing the choice which lets love exist. Love cannot be forced. It has to be given of a free will. The choices go on. God has power over even the choices that are bad, as All things work out for good; to those who love God and are the called according to His purpose of love.

Ro 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

I'm not Josephus but I just want to say that some atheists, like me, find much happiness in life.

And you don't really die, as much as simply returning from whence you came.

(you don't get to use 'whence' too often, you know)
But what are you rele living for?
