Sin is bad .. no debating that lol.
But what i dont understand, and i cant explain to others .. is if God forgives us for our sins if we ask for it .. then why not just go out pillaging and murdering and sinning, then repent on our death bed and go to heaven??
Personally im not gunna sin .. well as much as humanly possible .. but how do i explain and understand why not?

Read 1 John, that is the point of it. Basically we are called to be Christ like and we cannot be Christ like if we continue to sin. Also we are to repent, repentance is not just apologising but is saying that we will not do it again.

JarrodlovesGod,

Do you really love God? I'm not doubting your salvation at all, but when you truly love God I think you have to come to a realization that salvation is not just a ticket into Heaven. You realize that because of your sin you deserved Hell, but God loved you so much that He made a completely free way for you to live with Him forever. When you truly grasp God's grace you want to follow Him. We shouldn't sin, not just because it is wrong, but because we love the Lord and want to follow Him.

There was no atonement for intentional sinning in the OT. God does not allow for that type of behavior. In other words, a person could not go about intentionally sinning and then bring a bull or lamb to sacrafice, and then everything would be okay between that man and God. The same type applies to the New Testament. Romans 6:15 (NLT)
So since God's grace has set us free from the law, does this mean we can go on sinning? Of course not!

The reason is simple: Sinning, in the final analysis, is not about what you do. It is ultimately about who you are. Sure, one might say a "salvation" prayer on one's death bed, but it will probably not be genuine, as the whole of one's life (pilaging, murdering, raping, etc.) up to that point has revealed who one truly is. Besides, it takes much more than forgiveness to be "saved." After all, all of humanity is forgiven. The crux of salvation is being reconciled to God. If one continues in sin (relational dysfunction w/God), then it is impossible that one could be in right relationship with God.

Could you explain a little more? I'm not really following you.

The forgiveness which God offers in Christ is unconditional and for all. God's forgiveness is not even contingent upon repentance, as if one could earn forgiveness by repenting (how many repentant were there when Jesus looked down and prayed for the forgiveness of his murderers?). However, forgiveness does not restore relationships. For example, I could "forgive" another for a wrong done to me by them, but my forgiveness would not by default put us back into relationship. Rather, reconcilation is required in order for relationship to be restored.

Therefore, as separation and broken relationship with God is humanity's problem, then the ultimate solution must be reconciliation. God's forgiveness creates the possibility of reconciliation for all, but it does not in itself save.

Well,I can only speak for myself.

My sin was grievious, and plagued me for years,I wanted to be free from it,and cried out to God to deliver me.The condemnation was a heavy burden, and the
quilt was draining the life out of me.The anger in my heart was awfull, and the lust, was corrupting all I touched and tried to do.It made me useless to God.

so,the question should be,why ever in the world would I want to go back and lick up my own vomit?

I find sin not to be a pleasure, but enslaving.

Paul talks about this in Romans 6

Romans 6

1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

2God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Just wondering what is your definition of Sin. If you really think that the definition of Sin is just limited to the law then I think you are really mistaken. There are very good people living in this world but God still says that they are sinful. There is a passage in the Gospel whereby Jesus mentioned that if you look at a woman lustfully you are sinning. So does the law actually says that? No. The law says that when we commit the act of adultary then we ought to get punish. So what then is sin. Sin is actually rebellion against God. When we look at a Woman or a Man lustfully, we are actually rebeling against God's law in our hearts. So any time you are angry with someone, or you put something above God, or you do anything that dishonours God for example not taking care of your body you are actually sinning.

So that is why Jesus say that He did not come to abolish the law because the law that God has given us can really be summed up by two commandments. Love God and also Love all our brothers and Sisters. If we really understand what those two commandments are then we will realize that it actually extends further then the law that God has given has.

Well, if we understand the extend of Jesus death for us then we will not want to sin because He really has brought us at a very high price. He will realize that what he has done is not only dishonouring God but also it is really harmful to him. God will discipline him and show Him how bad he is. When true believers are faced with hardship they will ultimately comeback to God but when someone does not believe in God they will not seek God even if they are faced with hardships.

OK, try this angle maybe:

Ask your freinds if they have ever loved someone. If so then ask them how they wanted to treat that person. They probably wanted to do whatever possible to do good to that person even though they might have made mistakes. That's kind of how I look at it. God loves us and if we are a Christian we should love Him. Because of that we want to do good things for Him. Not because we have to but because we love Him.

I gave you some scripture reasons why earlier, here is another: Hebrews 10:26-27 (NLT)
Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received a full knowledge of the truth, there is no other sacrifice that will cover these sins. [27] There will be nothing to look forward to but the terrible expectation of God's judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies.

Once you have the enlightenment of Christ then you have a responsibility to live by that. You are not like others who have not understood.

Why not jump from an airplane without a parachute since a few have done so and survived? Of course you wouldn't as these few who survived such a fall are very few indeed and in no way represent the majority of people who have plummeted from great heights. In all of the Bible, there is only one clear example of a deathbed repentance that was confirmed to work towards eternal salvation and that is the repentance of the thief on the cross....Only one example. The truth is, repentance is something which one must never, ever presume upon as it is clearly treated as a gift of God in Acts 5:31 and 11:18. What if God did not grant such a willful and presumptuous sinner a repentant heart? I have read the gloomy deathbed testimonies of infidels, agnostics, deists and lifelong persistent sinners who have tried with all of their might to repent at death's door and were despairingly locked out. A repentant heart is a precious gift of God which must be carefully guarded as we must "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life." Proverbs 4:23
