Ok I got a question for those who preach at a church and ect. When you get up to speak, do you always stay behind a pupit? If so why. And how come no one is ever allowed to ask questions during a service? Why not ask those who attend to ask.

I mean we are their to learn, and most will learn through asking questions, and peek higher interest. And I think people would take away alot more. I understand the whole, oh its a respect thing, let the man finish the story. But really now, come on, out of all the people your speaking to, you know there are questions to be asked, but no is sure when to ask. Cause their are plenty of times in the bible where people are allowed to ask, and now I think it is almost looked down upon.

Some churchs do allow questions. There are times though when questions could interrupt the delivery of a message that God really wants to get to His people. In cases like that questions afterward would be the way to go. I know that our pastor encourages questions most of the time but once in a while the scenario above happens.

What kind of church are you discussing? Some o fthe more traditional denominationational churches may not allow qustions because 'that is not the way things are done.' Other churches, typically the mor charismatic or at least modern evangelical churches would probably allow questions.

I think this is the difference between teaching and preaching. The main reason for not asking questions during a sermon is b/c the sermon would never end and would get completely off track. If you are preaching at a church with 100 people at it, chances are 50 of them are going to have a question at some point during the sermon, so questions get asked, and some of the questions are quite tough to answer and may take a path beyond the sermon the Lord gave to me ministered to the people. Now home churches where there are only 20-30 people, usually do allow questions b/c it is a bible study atmosphere. Any questions you have during a sermon, write them down and meet with your pastor afterward and discuss them with him, you should never feel that your questions have to go unanswered, just during a sermon is not the place b/c the minister is there to preach a specific word from the Lord.

good question.. i think it is for the sake of others also who come there to be encourage. Some needs healings and all.. when you allow a room to debate, it'll b disruptive for others' purposes.

If you have many questions to ask, the church is open to that opportunity in Bible study group. You can debate and ask questions. So it is really depends on your intention of asking questions. If you really want to know the answer of your questions, i encourage you to come to bible study.

If the only reason you ask question is to win an argument then..
I believe you should ask your motive to God

Part of this also I think depends on setting. In a large church setting where your sharing a message with anywhere from 50-10000 people, things can get very disorderly if everyone has a question, some of which have more than one. I think this is the value of having small group settings to complement larger church services, especially in the case of young adults and youth. In a small group setting, there still has to be order, but there's alot more breathing room and its much easier to accept, answer, and plan for questions than in a huge public setting. :D
