Contemporary music has a broad range of genres, including ultra-mild middle-of-the-road, light pop/soft rock, "bubblegum" pop, rap/hip-hop, pop or rock with hints of jazz, blues, or even country influences, R&B/soul/urban, rock with a "retro" sound, alternative, and modern rock, which means rock scratches the surface of what contemporary music covers style-wise. Even some progressive Southern Gospel (such as the Crabbs, Lauren Talley, and David Phelps) can qualify in the MOR/light pop end of the genre and are very much as contemporary as Amy Grant or Twila Paris who are clearly labeled "CCM".
So they probably had this forum here as a general forum to discuss any type of Christian music in contemporary styles, including metal/hard rock.
Myself, I consider myself extremely versatile in my musical tastes, but personally metal does nothing for me. Just my opinion.
