at blockbuster, every anime has one of those youth restricted tags on them, even the ones that are stinkin ages seven up! i mean com on, seryously. i thinks them japanese pple know what theyre talkin bout, but why is this?

The American distributors put those tags on them, not the Japanese distributors/production companies.

Anyway, probably because of various historical reasons. There's a certain stigma that arose because people who weren't familiar with anime grouped it all in with hentai or at least made the assumption that because it's animated, it's perfectly acceptable for all ages - until they saw what the title in question actually contained. So from there, a lot of people have reservations about letting anyone rent it, and restrict it to those that are certain of it (in other words, whatever the cutoff for Youth-Restricted Viewing is).

Then again I've actually seen some people object to anime simply for the fact that it's Japanese and they jump to this conclusion that it's some sort of proselytizing device full of all kinds of spiritually dangerous content. :rolls eyes: Never seen them do that for Godzilla movies, though.

I don't know....probably because they figure the actual stories lines won't be able to be easily understood by young children like typical cartoons. I'm just assuming that's why. I'm not quite sure what sticker you are exactly talking about

i read manga alot and i get the actual storylines well, and the thing about the ratings, still, seven up and they think they can do that with a seven up rating on the back, but some of those i can understand, like roroni kenshen, that has alot of stuff in it that is bad, but seven up? come on ppls, get a clue.
