"Why, tulc -- you're a vile, selfish little heathen!"

tulc: "Hush, hush, sweet Charlotte..."

(the younger folks here are probably not going to get this reference... ;))

I had no idea that you viewed me as "you" and yourself as "we"!

Hmmm...

Hmmm...

I've seen people twisting words so as to try to take offense for something which wasn't stated in a way to mean offense -- but this takes the cake...

So called "sexual sin" is never ever mentioned in the bible, so how simply ironic is it that one here would state "God says it is more of a sin than others". Sorry...read between the lines here. The POSTER believes it to be the SIN OF SINS...Not God. If anything has been more clearer in the bible it is divorce and remarriage and how sinful that is..yet our society thinks nothing of it.

...or they believe that bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ, or they don't believe in a literal Garden of Eden.

Interesting that someone that doesnt take the Bible literally when reading about the Garden of Eden, Adam, Noah, etc.... reads the words of Christ literally when he says, "This is my body". Why is that not symbolic?

Possibly because I'm not a Baptist (and isn't it interesting that Baptists insist on the entire Bible being read literally EXCEPT when it comes to the Eucharist?).

All right I can fix that:
...don't all our replies get down to "I believe this"? you pull out your views I pull out mine, then we shake them at each other. :sigh:
...hmmm said that way doesn't it sound a little...weird? :sorry:
how about like this instead:
...don't all our replies get down to "I believe this"? your side pulls out their views we pull out ours, then we shake them at each other. :sigh:
Yeah I think that sounds a little better. What do you think?

I no longer wish to have any communication whatsoever with you until you apologize for this extremely offensive and extremely blasphemous remark.

Uhmmm that really was wrong dude. :(
tulc(don't get defensive, but you really might want to apologise)

Both of you are right, and I apologize. I have deleted the post and ask for your forgiveness. It was pretty crass, and I have no excuse. I am sorry.

So what?

Seriously: so what if they "deny that it is a sin"?

That affects you directly in what way?

I don't believe there was a literal Adam or a literal Eve or a literal Garden of Eden.

Why should that affect you in any way, whatsoever?

If people said, "All right, homosexuality IS a sin" -- exactly how would that improve your life one iota?

By allowing you to be "right"?

Well, so what if you're "right"?

And so what if people don't agree with you.

I'd like to know exactly how people like you, floatingaxe, IAmRedeemed, DMagoh, etc. are affected directly if someone doesn't think homosexuality is a sin -- or if they have a statue of the Blessed Virgin on their home altar, or they believe that bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ, or they don't believe in a literal Garden of Eden.

How is what someone believes -- or doesn't believe -- going to change your life even one iota, and why should that even bother you?

How selfish! You think I care what it would do for me! I am concerned because I know what it can make someone become, I know the harm. Think of the person going to hell!

"I think"
"I do not care..."
"I care..."
"I..."

Read about what God thinks and cares about. Take it up with Him. I have told you what the Word says.
You haven't exactly told him what the Word says.
I don't remember seeing any relevant scripture.
Do you think you could please provide some?

Interesting that someone who claims to be a bible literalist stops being one when it comes to translating the words shakab and arsenokoites

Interesting that Romans 1:27 never mentions those two words.

In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Romans 1:27

All I see is...
  • They abandoned natural relations with women;
  • They are inflamed in lust for other men;
  • They have committed indecent acts with other men; and
  • They receive the due penalty for their perversion.

Sorry, but none of those words have anything to do with "men committed indecent acts with other men". But thanks for playing.

Sorry, but none of those words have anything to do with "men committed indecent acts with other men". But thanks for playing.

But they have everything to do with translating the verse correctly in the first place:
Romans 1:26-27 said:

And even more to do with correctly translating 1 Cor 6:9-10; 1 Tim 1:9-10, Lev 18:22, and Lev 20:13, which form the basis of understanding of Romans 1:27 being about "man-lying" rather than the equally valid understandings that Romans 1:26-27 is about sexual addiction or temple prostitution.

Lovely Carol has some parting gifts for you....
