Why is SDA so obsessed with the Sabbath?

Well it seems to be the one commandment everyone wants to forget for some reason. It is God’s holy day (indisputable) Exodus 20:10, Isaiah 58:13 not sure why people make such a fuss about keeping something a simple as the Sabbath that was a commandment from God Exodus 20:8-11 which is meant to bless us.

"My" local SDA church had a program for drug addicts. And guess what they were talking about on the first session? Yes, you got it right - Sabbath and vegetarianism.

This is what makes SDA similar to JW - this sectarian "one thing" that must be brought forward in every situation. Or, as the OP put it - "obsession".

I do not think so. They have so distinctive focus, doctrines and life style that they are not too similar to common Christian churches.

Also the prophetess and her interpretation of the Bible is something very specific just to this group.

Not sure what the point you are trying to make here, most of your claims about the SDA church so far have been proven false.

The SDA church is obsessed with God's Word which includes God's holy Sabbath day that the whole world seems to want to forget for some reason, despite God telling us to Remember. Exodus 20:8-11 All the commandments do is point out sin when broken. 1 John 3:4, Romans 3:20, Romans 7:7 When you break one commandment you break them all. James 2:10-12. Jesus told us to not break the least of the commandments or teach others to, Matthew 5:19 and unfortunately, I see a lot of that going on these days. We don't want to hear these words when Jesus comes:

Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

I personally would rather have a warning now, than wait before it's too late. There is no scripture showing we are in a saved state with perpetual unrepented sin. Hebrews 10:26-27. We have time now to repent of our sins and turn to Jesus and walk in obedience to God's law which Jesus provides us the Holy Spirit so we can obey. John 14:15-18, Acts 5:32

By the way, the SDA church promotes vegetarianism because that was the Garden of Eden diet before sin and will be the diet again after sin when we are back with Jesus. While the SDA does promote vegetarianism eating foods God deemed clean is perfectly acceptable.

The SDA's are not hurting in the health department. An independent study found that the SDA's were the only group in the US that lives on average 10 years longer due to their healthy lifestyle.

Ellen White having a vision on something God also tells us in scripture and God tells us our bodies are a temple and dwelling place for the Holy Spirit, so we should take care of them!

I sure try! I can’t do it on my own, but with Jesus anything is possible including our obedience and gaining victory over sin. Jesus doesn’t make us obey all on our own for those who want to walk in Christ in obedience as He provides us the Holy Spirit to help us obey. John 14:15-18, Acts 5:32 If I stumble, we have a Savior who is just and merciful and promises us to forgive us of our sins when we are truly sorry and repent. True repentance means to turn from sin. Even if we fall seven times, scripture tells us to get back up. Obeying God’s law is not meant to be burdensome. 1 John 5:3 God bless

What is wrong is you trying to draw parallels between SDA's and something we do not believe. If you want to know why we believe the Sabbath and teach it your welcome to ask us but it seems you do not want to discuss scripture with us for some reason.

It is a unknown secret blogger with no identification that speaks of SDA in the third person as "they" not "we". @SabbathBlessings already provided you with an official link to an official SDA website as to what we believe yet it seems you would rather ignore this and continue to make this OP topics about something it is not. Then I challenge you to ask us here what we believe in regards to the Sabbath so you can understand the answer to this OP from us directly. Well that is an easy one. Here let me rephrase that and provide the answer through the scriptures. How many commandments are there in Gods' 10 commandments that were written and spoken by God alone (Exodus 32:16; Exodus 20:3-17); was there 9; 10 or 613 (scripture please)? (hint: what do the scriptures say?; Exodus 34:28; Deuteronomy 4:13; Deuteronomy 10:4). You do know that James 2:10-11 and Romans 7:7 is referring directly to Gods 10 commandments right?

The 1844 movement was by a baptist minister, not the SDA church. Eleen White was 17 years old at the time and was a Methodist. The SDA church formed almost 20 years after the great disappointment in 1863 after careful study of the Bible. The great disappointment was widespread from multiple denominations studying God's Word. It did spark many new denominations, that are completely unrelated in doctrines, beliefs and church leaders.
