There are many SDAs who became SDA’s because of the Bible and nothing to do with Ellen White. While you are allowed to say anything you like, doesn’t make it true.

My pastor became a SDA from reading the Bible living in a cave.

After they got there, Ellen White it is. Because its the SDA.

Some people can become JW's or mormons or hebrew roots or anything because of the Bible too, who knows. People are not perfect and are mistaken frequently.

Leaving such movements is much harder than to join them, though.

This thread is not about proving SDA wrong. This thread is about "why are SDA so obsessed with the Sabbath".

The answer is because their prophetess told them to be. She had a "vision" and in it she saw the commandment about Sabbath to be the most important thing in the Bible.

I am not SDA. The best reason to be obsessed with the Sabbath is that God is obsessed with the Sabbath and obsessively called for His people to repent from breaking it. Our salvation is from sin (Matthew 1:21) and sin is the transgression of God's law (1 John 3:4), which includes God's command to keep the Sabbath holy (Exodus 20:8-11), so while we do not earn our salvation by keeping the Sabbath holy, part of the content of God's gift of salvation is the delight of being saved from the experience of breaking the Sabbath. What is holy to God should not be profaned by man, so we would still be obligated to keep the Sabbath holy even if God had never commanded anyone to do that.

Even over murder? Wow. What about people who have to work for a living on Saturday?

Anyway, I fellowship with a group of Christians on the narrow path once a week. To think that this group would go to hell for meeting on Sunday is a crackpot idea. There's just no way it would happen.

There were several breakaway sects in the 19th century spearheaded by someone claiming to be a prophet. Latter Day Saints (Mormons) spearheaded by Joseph Smith, Jehovah's Witness spearheaded by Charles Taze Russell, Christian Science spearheaded by Mary Baker Eddy are among the best known and most prevalent. The Jehovah's Witnesses are the same. So are the Christadelphians and thousands of other groups. It begs the question, is God's Church the greatest failure in history?

From what I've heard from them, God is seeking a small remnant, and that's them. Of course there's so many sects claiming to be that small remnant, it's pretty hard to know which one of them is actually the genuine small remnant.

Perhaps this might help. Sin is defined in the scriptures as breaking anyone of Gods' 10 commandments in James 2:10-11; 1 John 3:4; Romans 7:7; Romans 3:20. God's 4th commandment is one of God's 10 commandments as shown in Exodus 20:8-11. Sin is also defined in the scriptures as not believing Gods' Word *Romans 14:23.

Now we have defined what sin is let's read Hebrews 10:26-31.

Hebrews 10:26-31 [26], For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, [27], But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. [28], He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: [29], Of how much sorer punishment, suppose you, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has done despite to the Spirit of grace? [30], For we know him that has said, Vengeance belongs to me, I will recompense, said the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. [31], It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Now note from the scriptures above;

These people continued in known unrepentant sin which is defined in the scriptures as breaking anyone of Gods' 10 commandments (James 2:10-11; 1 John 3:4; Romans 7:7; Romans 3:20) and not believing Gods' Word (Romans 14:23) after they received a knowledge of the truth of Gods' Word *Hebrews 10:26.

For them by continuing in known unrepentant sin there is no forgiveness of sin because they are continuing in unrepentant sin after they have been given a knowledge of the truth of Gods' Word which they choose to reject *Hebrews 10:27.

They will be receiving Gods' Judgements which will devour them *Hebrews 10:27; 29 because they counted the blood of the covenant an unholy thing doing despite to the Spirit of Gods' grace. They will receive Gods' vengeance and it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God *Hebrews 10:30-31.

Now you tell me are these people in a saved state with God or an unsaved state with God according to Hebrews 10:26-31 after they received a knowledge of the truth of Gods' Word and choose to reject it in order to continue in known unrepentant sin?

There is not a single scripture in all of Gods' Word that says Sunday of the first day of the week is "the Lords day". Just like there is not a single scripture in all of God's Word that says that Gods' 4th commandment of the 10 commandments has been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a holy day in honor of the resurrection of Jesus. Sunday worship is a man-made teaching and tradition that has led many away from God and His Word to break the commandments of God. Jesus tells us in His own words if we choose to follow man-made teachings and traditions that break the commandments of God we are not worshiping God in Matthew 15:2-9. I believe this is the testing question that is will be coming to everyone of us before Jesus returns. Who do we believe and follow; God or man?

GOD'S PEOPLE ARE IN EVERY CHURCH. GOD IS CALLING US BACK TO HIS WORD

Sunday worship is a teaching and tradition of some in the early Church (many continued keeping the Sabbath) that has led many away from God and His Word to break God's 4th commandment. Jesus in Matthew 15:3-9 says that if we knowingly follow man-made teachings and traditions that break the commandments of God we are not worshiping God. If we are not worshiping God by breaking Gods' commandments through tradition who are we worshiping God or man? This is the test that will becoming to everyone of us.

God's people according to the scriptures I believe are in every Church (John 10:16) and in times of ignorance when we do not know any better God winks at but when he gives us a knowledge of the truth of His Word calls all men every where to believe and follow it (Acts of the Apostles 17:30-31; James 4:17; Hebrews 10:26-31). Jesus says that the hour is coming and now is that the true worshipers wherever they might be must worship the father in Spirit and in truth for God is a Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth (Mark 4:23-24).

BABYLON has fallen *Revelation 14:7-12; Revelation 17:1-5 and God is calling His people out from following man made teachings and traditions to return to the pure Word of God *Revelation 18:1-5. According to Jesus, God's sheep will hear His Voice (the Word) and follow him. Those who do not hear will not follow because they are not His sheep (John 10:26-27).

Jesus is calling us back to His Word. "Fear God therefore and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters." - Revelation 14:7. God's 4th commandment "seventh day" Sabbath *Exodus 20:8-11 is one of Gods' 10 commandments that give us the knowledge of what sin is when broken according to Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4 and according to James if we knowingly break anyone of them we stand guilty before God of sin in James 2:10-11.
