God ISN'T sitting back. He's the ultimate opposite of that. He gave and gives everything to us. You're speaking of nerve, but you have no idea yet about how good the God is whom I worship. And if you really don't believe in my God, then blame yourself, me and your peers. Stop pointing tiny fingers at an infinite God who's ways are so far beyond ours. Stop blaming God for an earth you say he didn't create and has no involvement in. Please,TheStraightener said:I'm not being racist at all. I'm pointing out that God is sitting back and allowing this to happen. If I was all powerful then the first thing I would do I is end their suffering by giving them clean water, food and a better quality of life. Your all loving God chooses not to do this. You have the nerve to call me racist for pointing this out while in the same breath you worship someone who sits back and does nothing about it.
DogmaHunter said:You are just asserting things. You are using your a priori beliefs to justify your current beliefs. Your argument is as circular as it could possible get. I'm asking you to show you your pre-determined definitions match up against what is actually said about the actions and motives. You fail to do that and just continue to repeat the same claims, assertions and pre-determined definitions. Sorry, it doesn't work that way. It certainly isn't accomplishing its intended goal of making you see a simple point.
DogmaHunter said:1. in the theology, the installment of death was a punishment given by god for the "crime" of sin. It's 100% false to claim that humans brought death into the world. God did that. Just like it's 100% false to claim that a murderer "put himself in jail". He didn't. He committed a crime that opened him up to possible punishment by a judge. But it is the judge that put him in jail and this judge could have chosen not to do that. Especially if he is all-powerfull. 2. the millions of innocent children and babies that died during the many genocides committed or commanded by god were still innocent. God didn't bother to spare them. The equivalent would be to nuke the entire middle east killing millions, in order to kill a couple thousand of ISIS terrorists.

You are sure going to find a lot of truth there. If you can see past the Everest sized ego and the hero worship that places "Sam Harris" above you or I.
Buy yourself a whole bag of chips because there's no way im eating french fries when God offers me steak.BlueLightningTN said:So you're not going to respond to what the video says. That was my internal prediction, so I owe myself some chips later today. As I recall, Dr. Harris believes in determinism (as opposed to myself) and doesn't think any person has one iota of a reason to think more highly of their self over another human. So, before God and others, please answer this one question honestly, knowing that a false statement is sin to Yahweh: Did you or did you not watch the entire video before replying to it?

As for his humility, just read the video description. You obviously think so highly of him that you feel the need to stick up for him.
Also, with all love and respect don't mock or tempt The Lord with what might constitute a sin. As an accuser, you have no right to throw stones at the Kingdom's children or invoke the name of God as though he were your personal hitman.

BlueLightningTN said:Regardless of what we're eating, my expectation was correct. The video was made by someone besides him. It takes something he said in a debate and adds graphics. I agree with Harris on some things and disagree with him on others. I have that ability because I have the mental capacity to listen to what he says and evaluate it. Because you lack the mental capacity to even listen to his statements, you lack the ability to evaluate it. Here's an idea for you - how about you stop referring to your deity as God? I find your deity, Yahweh, to be a reprehensible figure, disgusting and terrible. The actual creator of the universe, the real God, is likely much more intelligent. Now, let's repeat the question: So, before God and others, please answer this one question honestly, knowing that a false statement is sin to Yahweh: Did you or did you not watch the entire video before replying to it?
TheStraightener said:No one asked if he is the good guy in the bible... Although he would be if you transposed the events into any other story. The question was when you look at what God actually did... the killing of non believers and their children, the Believe or Burn policy, the suffering that he allows and does nothing about, the idea that every man will carry the burden of man's actions thousands of years ago, wiping out the entire planet in the flood etc... And compare that to what Satan did. Then we have to ask, why is satan the bad guy? There is limited information about him in the bible, there's a lot of off hand comments about him but the only thing he really seems to have done is tell people not to follow Yahweh. And looking at his resume above... I think any sound minded person would do the same.
TheStraightener said:It doesn't matter what you, I, or anyone thinks of Sam Harris. His arguments stand on their own merits. Why don't you take the time to see what his arguments are?
Satan caused the fall of 1/3 of the loyal angels. Rev 12. The loss of 1/3 of the Angel race.
Satan started war in heaven. Rev 12.
Satan caused the fall of Adam and Eve - the loss of the entire human race.
Satan filled the heart of Judas and drove the people to crucify Christ.
Satan is called "the god of this world" 2 Cor 4 -- and he himself claims "the world is his and he gives it to whom he wishes" Matt 4.
Satan leads Angels and humans to reject the source of life - and to come under condemnation as law breakers - as rebels against God.
Satan lead the humans of Noah's day to reject the Noah message and to kill each other filling the world with violence.
No Angel or human was ever "better off" for having followed one of Satan's lousy schemes.
Just to add to that, Satan isn't capable of being better off anymore. He is called the father of lies, can't speak without lying and arrogantly believes his own lies even when he knows that he is wrong. Eternally. That is one reason why he fights a losing battle against God.
John 8:44TheStraightener said:Tell me exactly.. who did Satan murder in the bible?
Would you do the same for me?
John 8:44
You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
