Hi all, I'm taking alot of interest in SDA thought and lifestyle but I have to admit I have some questions about the emphasis on Jesus returning so soon. Is there any reason why Adventists believe this? I know the bible references the return obviously but to put it simply why do SDA's think it will happen so soon?

The premise of what Jesus was saying was that as the signs of a womans labour, the frequency and intensity, indicate the nearing approach of the birth, so does the signs of His return.

People have said for 2000 years that we have had these signs and that is true but don't forget the premise.... you will know it's near when the intensity and frequency are increasing. No other time in history has there been such an upheaval of the natural world as well as the political. Unprecedented natural disasters are occuring almost weekly, the existence and threat of new viruses, plagues and disease are on an upswing, famine, which has always been, is increasing exponentially due to the rise in price of food around the world caused by the increase in crop damaging disasters. Massive earthquakes are no longer a once a lifetime or even a once a decade occurance but are increasing to once a month, or less. We have always had wars and the rumour of wars, but observe what we are subject to now... a declared, never ending war, that is just beginning to get heated up.

These are the signs that Jesus gave in Matt. but there are other signs that a deeper study of the prophesies of the Bible and of history reveal. The seventh trumpet/third woe, which is sounded just before Jesus returns, occured on Sept 11 2001. The prophesy of Daniel 11:40-45 is nearly complete... the only sign/prophesy yet to be fulfilled is the mark of the beast event which, if you are an astute observer, can see beginning in various governments around the world.

No one knows the exact time but know that it is close... will it be 5 years, 10, less? Sister White says that the final events will happen in such a rapid succession that if you are not prepared (spiritually) you may be overcome and deceived.

First I'd like to say welcome and thanks for the question.

In all actuality, scripture shows us that even the disciples had a feeling of the imminent return of the Lord. In my opinion, I think that most of them thought He'd be back during their lifetime.

I think our reasoning lies in our understanding of prophetic events. For instance, if you look at the statue that was given to King Nebuchadnezzar in the book of Daniel, every other kingdom has come and gone, just as God foretold. We find ourselves in the feet made of clay mixed with iron. The next kingdom to come will be the one God establishes.

Also if you look at the book of revelation, in chapter 22, John is told to not seal up the words of that book because the time is near.

Matthew Chapter Twenty four goes hand in hand with Daniel and Revelation. Verses four and five warn the beginning of deception during the apostle time when many will claim that they are the Messiah up to the papacy. Sixth through eighth was the beginning of wars with many nations at one time for the first time, also famine of great proportion like never before. This begins after the fall of Rome to the middle ages but it was the beginning of sorrow not the end time.

Verses nine through thirteen first begins with the inquisition of the Catholic Church, then next the rise of Islam, Hindu, Buddha, Vodune (Voodoo) and other false religions around the world. The word will become globalized and capitalism and greed will shake the world, all manners of vices, and people's heart will wax cold. Christians, Muslims, and others killing or terrorizing each other because they don't believe the way they do. Racism will arise because a black man becomes president by Yahweh choosing, hatred will rise up like never before. Pongee schemes, earthquakes, floods, tornadoes, economy, joblessness, hurricanes, snow storms, hail, volcanoes and the knowledge that a comet, asteroid, and a meteor is about to hit the earth. The Sun is about to make trouble like never before and global warming is out of control. Republicans full of hatred and rage, Democrats debunked and so much chaos it is hard to stop and take a breath of air before something else hits. All of this is happening now and these are the signs that the Bible warned us about. Man using the false names for the Most High which is breaking one of the Commandments, interpreting the Bible instead of understanding what it is saying. Having a form of Elohim but deny the Almighty Ones power and truth, false teaching in the message giving to the Church. Keeping the false holy days of Satan and opposing Yahweh's true Feast days. Also, man has broken every command that Yahweh has instructed and placed in the Old Testament for man to obey. Disregarding the same ones presented by the Son in the New Testament.

The earth is dying and instead of worrying about 2012 you better realize that sometime after it the Time of Trouble will begin. When it ends probation will be close but all type of trauma will start due to both the wrath of the Father and the Lamb. Only those who have read, understand, stay steadfast to truth, remains faithful to Elohim, and receive the out pouring of the Holy Spirit will be able to endure through the Time of Trouble until the return of Yashua. Verse fourteen explains clearly that the gospel of truth will reach every corner of the world during the Time of Trouble as it declares. Dan 12:1-3

No this work is not going to be accomplish now because those who have received this special message has compromise the truth. Only those who have not bowed their knees to Baal will finish the work during the 3 1/2 years of the Time of Trouble. Many will die as martyrs like their fellow saints under the fifth seal. Rev 6:9-11

But the 144,000 during this time will complete the mission and a great multitude will be saved. Verse fifteen to twenty five now reveals clearly what will take place that will bring on the final events. Jerusalem will become Babylon because both the Jews and the Christians will unite together and rebuild the Temple at the exact location which is not the Dome of the Rock. This place is a high place and Yahweh told the Children of Israel to never worship Him in a high place. The Temple is located near the southeast side of the mound which is close to a stream for water needed for the Temple services. It will be erected but this time on Holy ground instead of the ark of the covenant, the papacy will set up a throne to prove his claim that he is both the Father and the Son and this will enrage both the Father and the Son. This is when the Time of Trouble will begin calamities of great proportion will take place from outer space. Four of them will be from the Almighty Father and during this time saints will die, but the wise teachers will present miracles of all sorts and people will have to make a choice. It is a time that unless you have the truth planted in your heart deception of all type will be so great that many great lights will falter because they did not pray and studied as they should. Only the faithful will realize the false ones claiming that they are the Messiah. The test will be extremely severe but the elect will stand fast to the truth.

When the great multitude is finally sealed than the Holy Spirit work is complete and He will leave and then the beast along with the false prophet will make war with the harlot and burn her. Jerusalem and the Jews, and Christians that refuse to accept the truth will be destroyed in the city. USA will use its arsenal of weapons and destroy it as the Bible declares for her sins down through ages and the death of the Messiah on the cross. This will take place but first they will war with the beast and only those with the beast will be able to buy and sell. Not those who align with the papacy and the saints will be safe during the world's final battle. The saints' bread and water shall be sure as it was during the time of Elijah. When the beast destroys the city he will not destroy the Temple instead he will sit in it as a ruler and a false deity of this earth. He will honor Satan and claim to make him the only deity of the universe instead of Elohim the Almighty Ones. Because of extreme pressure Yahweh will shorten this period of time with the beast for only two months. This is when probation has close for the whole world. Yashua has stated clearly listen and hear what He is saying.

It is then that the beast will now turn on the saints but before he can eliminate them the Savior will intervene. Verses twenty six through twenty seven must be carefully understood because Yashua returns and give the reason why many who claimed they accepted Elohim but were swept away with the papacy during the Time of Trouble. Here is the mention about the rapture called the "secret chamber," that many will be deceived by including many SDA's. Keep in mind that many today are accepting the views of the Catholic Church and call the pope the holy father! Adventist once spoke out firmly against the Church doctrines but humbly stated that many Catholic were spiritually minded people. This is not done today because we feel that we will hurt people's feelings instead of standing up for truth. Satan will use the rapture for real as a means to carry many people away to Jerusalem. Many will think that this is a sign that this is truth and be caught into one of Satan's most deceptive tricks of all time, be careful and watch and pray because the time is at hand.

Verse twenty eight gives a warning that is also found in Revelation about the suppers of the birds who will eat the dead flesh of those destroyed by the brightness of the Savior's coming. Also letting the world know that He is not coming by some secret rapture but every eye will see as we all see lightning in the sky.

Verses twenty nine through fifty ones now comments with the close of probation and the coming of Yashua to collect His Saints. This is the conclusion that He will come and the time is closer than many realize. The signs of the devastation around the world should wake up those who plan to be saved. More so the problems taking place with the Middle East should let those know that Yahweh is breaking down the Islamic chains for them to accept truth or to side with the beast and I urge you all to get ready!

A group of fishermen went out to the sea. Their wives stayed to take care the homes. They knew not when their husbands would come back. For the good wife, she keeps house clean, children fed, everything in order all the time. But the wicked wife, she only started getting ready after she hears that the ship was coming ashore.

The central theme of the bible is 'prepare to meet thy God', Amos 4:12. This is the present truth message that applies every generation and every epoch.

Every generation has had only a life time of preparation to meet Him. And none of us is guaranteed of a tomorrow. So the message is not to get ready but to be ready.

Jesus clearly demonstrated this in the parable he told in Matt 24.

44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

"He will have mercy upon whom he will have mercy, and whom he wills, he hardens". Hardening occurs through the deceitfulness of riches. He hardens the heart of man by giving him a full belly and peace in this world.
