hi,
If Jesus is a human man how was he able to become a God? From what I know that he is a prophet. Also I wonder that if He is son of God but how did God become father? I have heard of the Holy Father, I assume that to mean God? Do Christians worship Jesus or God?
Why did a man die because of everyone's sins? Surely we know right from wrong, does this mean mankind is free to sin without a guilty conscience and the impending consequences of their wrongdoings? So many questions sorry..
Thank you.
Hello,
@Oceanmoon , thank you for your interesting questions. We believe that God consists of three distinct persons, bound together in perfect unity by their perfect love in a Trinity. Adam sinned, cursing all his descendants with sin and its ultimate consequence, death. We could not save ourselves, because it would take the sacrifice of a perfect man to atone for the perfect life that Adam lost. Therefore, out of love the second Person of the Trinity, the Son of God, became a man and ultimately died to pay our sin-debt. God showed that He accepted this sacrifice on our behalf by raising Jesus from death. Subsequently all who believe in Christ for salvation are no longer subject to the curse of Adam, but have been born again to a new and perfect life in union with the Son of God. At some point the Father will say it is time to bring this fallen dispensation to a close, so that the Kingdom of God that Jesus founded, which will include all who trust in Him, can be fully established.
So we worship both Jesus and the Father. Both are God, as is the Holy Spirit.
We who are in Christ are not free to sin without guilt. Rather, we now are free, by the power of the Holy Spirit living within us, to live without sin. Because we are not perfected yet we still sin now and then, but we have a Mediator who intercedes for us, and when we confess our sins we are forgiven and God has promised to wash all unrighteousness away (1 John 1:9). (If you hover over that link the verse should pop up.) But though we are forgiven of the sin, sometimes sin has earthly consequences that cannot be avoided. So we have two reasons not to sin - we don't want to disappoint the Father who loves us so much (John 3:16), and we don't want to bring consequences upon ourselves.
Hope this helps a little. It's good to ask questions, and if you can do some Bible reading - the Gospels of John or Mark are good places to start - that is good too. Be well.
