  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

eat shrimp? it says in leviticus it says it is a sin, it also says we can own slaves, and exudus state we should kill our neighbor if they work on the sabbath, Why is it no one attacks shrimp eater the way they protest gays?

I'm having a hard time understanding what is acceptable and what isn't.

I remember being told leviticus was jewish laws. if so let the jews worry about who's gay and who's not.

Are you looking for logic and reason in the Christian religion? Rots of ruck!

I thought about responding in kind, i.e. saying something senseless but I just decided to get in the lotus position and chant a mantra. Ohmmmmm. Ohmmmmm. Oh yes, that is better.

Considering that scientific studies have demonstrated the beneficial effects of meditation (and similar, prayerlike states) on both physical and mental well being, that was a bit rubbish, really :p

Oh yes, I agree so much. I was just merely taking the advice of a buddhist in his well thought out post and disregarding the silliness of Christianity and seeking higher enlightenment. Now that I have my chakras in alignment and my aura is all fluffy, I am ready to seek out another lifecycle. I am hoping to come back as a brook trout. Ohhhhhhhm. Ohhhhhhhm.

Because about 2000 years ago the eternal and unchanging god of the Christians…er…changed his mind about all these rules he made up… except the rule about homosexuality…Most Christians seem to insist that all the other rules of Leviticus are out in the garbage bin ... except that particular one.

Why that one is still OK but the others can be safely ignored by modern Christians is a mystery.

I asked a question, I did not give advice. And were I to recommend Buddhism, I would recommend Zen and not Tantric Buddhism.

Shalom,

Eating Kosher food (i.e. not pork or shellfish) is a law for the Israelites to follow. The laws of sexuality are for everyone to follow.

Blessings...
