I seriously don't get this, is it because he's not a White Man like McCain? Is it because voting for Obama is a political statement of "sticking it to the man" in Politics? Is it because MTV endorses him? Or his Hollywood supporters?

I just don't see the support of Abortion as Cool, nor appeasing Rogue States like Iran...
I don't care that I live in the bay area, and all around me the majority is voting Obama.

I'm going to buy a McCain/Palin shirt and go running in it.

Well I am voting for Obama, I wasn't aware that it was "cool" I agree with his policies, especially regarding the issues that directly affect me. So I can't really answer your question except to say that to attribute all votes to a cult of personality is as bad as it is to attribute the lack of votes to a skin color. Most voters, vote because of their beliefs, not because it's in vogue, and notwithstanding the correctness or lack thereof of their beliefs.

Yay to partial birth abortions, class warfare and bad economic policies!

Maybe this and his Saturday Night Live appearance have something to do with it.

He's young, black, and liberal. Exactly what makes the media establishment all excited.

Maybe so.. but now vpilf is a buzz word this election, lol.

You fools and your inferior tentacle-less candidates. The DAY is coming!
There is a sig here, it says "I will NEVER vote for someone who is not pro-life." I'm...sort of with her, though I'm no conservative.

Cthulu is pro-life? I'm pretty sure he's for pretty much total annihilation...
Well depending on which variation of the Cthulu mythos you buy into...

whats wrong with that? shouldn't you seek to not have candidates to address such issues as abortion?

:amen:

I vote based on the issues. I'd prefer that the ticket was Biden/Obama because my first choice was Biden, but he dropped out before most states had their primaries. I think the cult of personality thing is a made up media idea. I know plenty of Obama supporters and none of them are thinking he's some kind of rock star. Most supporters like his policies, that he was always against the Iraq War (like I was), and that he's willing to talk to foreign leaders rather than just calling them names (which is not helpful at all, it's rather childish actually). When I hear him speak, I feel like he gets it and doesn't seem so out of touch with what matters to the average US citizen. I don't know anyone voting for him because he's black. It's just a nice extra that an African-American man may finally be president.

Most Obama supporters also don't want another Bush term and believe that is what they will get with McCain (and that's why some snarky anti-McCain people call him McSame).

Eta: I couldn't care less what celebrities endorse him or because MTV may have endorsed him (MTV is garbage nowadays). I make my decisions on my own research and opinions, not based on what anyone else may think. If I gave into pressure, I would have voted for Bush because my former pastor basically said I was going to Hell if I didn't vote for Bush. I voted for Gore and Kerry.

Haha, American politics crack me up. :D The presidential race is such a catfight.

Anyway, if I were an American, I'd be voting for Obama. Why? I'm just not a fan of conservative policies for the most part.
I like what I've seen of Obama and his policies; he's young, fresh and seems in touch with the public. McCain and his policies seem somewhat stale in comparison (to this outsider ;)). I'd also be wary of McCain's age- there's a real chance that he could just drop dead one day in the next four years, leaving that Palin in charge. No thanks. ^_^

But, at the end of the day, I don't really care that much. It's not my country.

Btw, on an unrelated note (and without looking it up), does anyone here (that isn't Australian) know the names of Australia's current Prime Minister and deputy Prime Minister? I'm just curious. ;)

Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard.

Does anyone here know the name of the British PM?
