People often say that god doesn't appear to us like another human would show up in our house because he wants us to have faith.. then why did god reveal himself to lucifer before he turned evil and rebelled? Obviously satan saw and knew god much like we would if we go to heaven and like how we see and know other people.. obivously god talked to people back in the days.. it also says in the bible that god is unchanging.. so why doesn't god talk to us in the same way he did before?

Who is to say He doesn't.. Perhaps you simply do not know how to listen. Why do you assume it is God that changed, and not man? In a word, Pride. You can acknowledge God is unchanging but the pride of man will not have you look at yourself as being the one with the issue. Something else note worthy, It is also this pride that does not allow you to "Hear" God.

I did try listening.. many times.. I've prayed, humbled myself, and asked for help and I have gotten no responses.. The things that I thought were responses were just me making up stuff to make myself believe what other christians clearly understand! Now, can you answer my question?

Look at luke 11 it expounds on what is said in Mat 10 fold. (Luke TELLS you what you should be ASKING for)

5 Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; 6 a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.’ 7 And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’ 8 I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity[e] he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.
9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[f] a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

We ask through prayer, we Seek in the bible, Church and places like this, We "Knock" BY REPEATING THIS PROCESS UNTIL WE GET WHAT OUR HEART SEEKS.

You did not do this, as the verse clearly states that we are to knock like the persistent neighbor. The neighbor did not have a time limit to His efforts, It appears you did. This is what I mean by You built a box and demanded that God get into it. You have set parameters outside of what scripture says and you are demanding that The God of All of Creation Meet your expectations the way you want to see Him work. You took one scrap of one verse and have built an unreal expectation around it.

If you spend the rest of your life "knocking" it will be a life well spent. This is the humility that a proud man will find foolish. Know Personal Pride and God will Never occupy the same heart.

So is it too much to pray for temporary wishes like a lighter body weight, better grade on exams, or a better car? Certainly, there are time limits to certain things in life.. there is no point in going to a soccer academy to sign up to one day turn professional if you are already into your late thirties! The verse you posted, in its entirety, does suggest that one has to keep doing the things the bible teaches, i.e, prayer, repenting, forgiveness, and fellowship.. These are good for long term prayers like me or you wanting to be with god or something of that nature.. based on what you said, it seems like god has trouble or limited resources in answering my prayer for something temporary, which i was promised that I will get if I repented, humbled myself, and believed!

No, Look at verse 13 again.
12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Luke is telling us we should be asking for a measure of the Holy Spirit. Nothing else, because prayer is not away to change God's mind about something, it is a way God can help us change ours. If you look at the first part of Luke 11 it is what we know to be the "Lord's Prayer." In it there is a verse that say. "Your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Your Will Meaning God's will not ours. If this is a model for all prayer that verse just took the wishing part out of prayer. That means God is not a magic Genie who's only purpose is to grant you wishes if you do things for Him.

1 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

2 He said to them, “When you pray, say: “‘Father,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come. May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
3 Give us each day our daily bread.
4 Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And lead us not into temptation.

Okay.. If I pray for a good grade in an exam I will be taking next week.. how the heck is that going against his will? My prayer would not go against his will, because I followed God's requirements of accepting jesus as my savior.. he also promises that whatever we ask for, that we will get! How exactly are they contradicting? god said that I will get what I ask for.. hence I did.. god didn't respond.. it doesn't go against his will, because as far as I know.. I have repented, humbled myself, and accepted jesus as my savior.. i would think it would only strengthen my faith if my prayer was answered.. sounds like god doesn't give a fudge about me according to your point!

Can you also address my OP about how lucifer knew and talked to god before and after he turned evil and how I don't get to experience that, in the presence of "evidence" in the bible that lucifer is the one who corrupts us and that I have truly become a Christian?

God came to us in the form of His Holy Spirit on the day of pentecost. To teach us, guide us, And pretty much anything else we need. What would be the point in a verbal communication, When he is already speaking to you from inside?

Of course, Other people will think your nuts, If you tell them that God told you something, Or Told you to do something. But who cares, They probably think your nuts already for one reason or another.

The way this all works is, Satan wants to take as many souls to hell that he can, So he can point at God and say, See nobody likes you, Now leave us alone. But God foretold that he would raise up a people that will love, And serve him, Right in Satans stronghold. And this will prove that seeing is not believing. Because those people that loved God, Never saw his face, And still chose him over Satan.

It's called faith! Right now, your thinking in terms of technical details of how to be saved, And how to get prayers answered. That's nothing but legalism, And without faith, It does not work.

When you try to force yourself to be humble, And accept Jesus. Your forgetting another important step, No man can come to God unless God draws him. What that means is, God will allow the circumstances of your life, Or maybe just the sheer hard work of daily existence to wear you down, Until one day you begin to realize that you are nothing, Not even worth the dust it took to create you, And right about that time, You begin to feel like someone is telling you, Hey remember me? It's time to come to me, As you are now, Not as the proud person you used to be. Now let me show you what living is really about.

No amount of studying will get you forgiven, Neither will countless conversations on the subject. When you finally know what you really are, He will pick you up and dust you off, And make you better than you could ever be on your own.

I appreciate your reply!

I wasn't technical at all whenever I supposedly became a Christian.. I did everything god supposedly said in the bible.. repent, humble yourself, accept jesus as savior.. I NEVER demanded anything from god when I was a christian! I read the bible, as every dang christian would say, and prayed for something I truly cared about and wanted.. it says it in the same bible that made me a christian that whatever I asked for will be given to me!

Am I (Among other christians who no longer are christian) missing something here? It is clearly stated in the bible that the holy spirit will guide you once you become a christian.. what happened to me then?

Also, I would like something scriptural (Since that has more weight than logic on most of the forums of this website) on why god says he never changes, yet he did when he used one way of revealing himself to satan, and another flawed way of revealing himself to me?

Do you assume to know the complete will of God?

Spot on! It also should be noted that the verses cited above in Matthew and Luke record Jesus talking to his DISCIPLES (already 'called' and chosen, mostly), not to the general population. Jesus went up on the mountain to ESCAPE the crowds before he gave HIS DISCIPLES the 'sermon on the mount'.

Wow, This brings back memories for me. Good conversation though.

I wouln't even attempt to add to the verses that drich has posted, The information is there, But what he can't post here, Is the wisdom it takes to understand them correctly, And the faith required for it all to work. All I can do, Is to try and explain what i've learned to you. And hopefully put it in plain english.

Well heres my version of the same problem.
I was a traveling singer in churches, Did a weekly tv, And radio show. Had a girlfriend that I thought I wanted to marry, And I had no job, No car of my own, And no hope in ever getting a job where I lived.

I questioned the pastor repeatedly about this, And even sat in front of a panel of ministers asking the same questions your asking now. Why won't God make a way for me to get a job so I can have a life. The reply was beyond lame, "Just seek the lord brother, Go read his word". Now what kind of answer was that to give a young man, That is trying to figure out what he's doing wrong?

I eventually got so angry and hurt, That I left the church, And moved 200 miles away where there were jobs. I had decided, That if God wasn't going to let me have a life, I was just going to take it! And that did not include serving someone that didn't care about me.

So I forgot everything but going after what I wanted. Now it's a few years later, I'm married, To a completely different woman than I planned to marry, She's having affairs because supposedly I worked too much. We have two baby boys, Who eventually became my only reason for living, After major depression set in. I lost jobs repeatedly because of economics. And in a nutshell my life became a complete mess.

I continued on in my tirade against God, I was determined to raise my sons alone, And without God. Daily life wore on me for years on end, And it wasn't till my sons were almost grown that the real trouble began with them. One in jail repeatedly, One with a pregnant girlfriend.

I was completely shocked that my life had turned out so bad, It dessimated me to see my sons turning out completely the opposite of everything I had tried to teach them. And during all of this I was married and divorced again.

Finally after all those years, I began to cry inside, And try to make some sense of it all. It was then that God began to call me back, And of course I didn't want anything to do with him. But he kept calling, And finally one day I started listening. But it wasn't until I couldn't say no any longer, That I finally bowed before God, And said "Ok I blew it! I guess asking for a life was too much to ask, I guess I deserve nothing!"

God said "No, it wasn't too much to ask, I just wanted you to move to another town, Where you could minister to more people. It was you that decided that you didn't deserve a life".

Even now when I write this, I'm still shocked at my own stupidity. Well let me finish the story.

I decided to follow God no matter what after that, And for the first time in my life, I feel happy, No matter what tries to worry me, I just can't get that worried, Because I know who is in charge.

So, Within months of that happening, I suddenly had a stable income, It's not that much, But it pays all of our bills. And anytime we run short of food, Food shows up from some unexpected source. And I remarried my wife, That I had divorced only a few years ago. And we are happily married now.

The basic story is that I wanted something really bad, I had faith, I fasted, I prayed. I did everything I could possibly do to make it happen, And it didn't happen. And the reason it didn't happen wasn't because God didn't answer my prayers, He did. But he used the job situation to answer me. Because He wanted me in that town as a christian, Not as an angry spoiled child, That was mad because I didn't get my gift, And it wasn't wrapped in the exact paper that I requested.

Did God know I would give up on him, When I didn't get what I wanted? Sure He did. And He also allowed me to live my life as I thought it should be lived. And then when I wrecked everything, He was there, And He said, Now you know something worth telling the world.

So I hope you don't make the same mistake I made, And walk away from God. Remember to ask for His will, Not yours. And you may just find yourself walking into exactly what you always wanted.

So it's all about having faith.. basically it boils down to having faith that god's moral standards are right and his will is the best for us.. is that right?

That is exactly right! He is a just and Holy God. You won't be sorry when you put yourself in His hands.
