Okay. Maybe I was exaggerating a bit. It was over 20 years ago...
I, however, did read through it at a very high pace. If it was more then a week, it wouldn't have been much more. I basically did nothing else during that period. When you read in a book every free minute of every day, you cover a lot of pages in a short while.

But I'm at a loss what that has got to do with the quote you are actually replying to.

Frankly and honestly, if I get confronted with such "arguments" in real life conversations, I'ld probably just walk away thinking "crazy dude...."

I suspect both:
You have an academic spirit to find out what we believe, so you can please your inner spirits (muses) by ridiculing it.
Just like most other academians on earth.

It's actually neither.
I pretty much know what creationists believe. Am I aware of all the differing details of the different fundamentalist denominations and stuff? No. Am I interested in them? Not really.

I am aware of the core of it. And it's easily exposed as the nonsense that it is. So why would I care about the details of the nonsense? If the very foundation is already known to be nonsense, then the details of that foundation isn't going to magically make it better.

I think it's funny how you assume that I never picked up the bible again after that initial read.

Did you miss how I encountered the bible at age 17? Or didn't I mention it? It could be that it wasn't mentioned.

Anyhow, it was because I transfered to a catholic school, where (christian) religion was a mandatory class. So my exposure to the bible wasn't limited to my reading of it. I went on to graduate in that catholic school and had 2 hours of religious class per week during those years.

And what we discussed there was.... You guessed it (or not): the bible.

In fact, one of my motivations to read through it at a high pace, was because it was the first time in my life that I had religious classes. While all my classmates had been in that school since the beginning and were "ahead of me" when it came to biblical knowledge. So next to basic healthy curiousity, I was also motivated by the idea that my fellow classmates knew about things that I didn't know about and thus were "ahead of me".

I didn't like that. I didn't like that they were talking about things in class as if it was common knowledge, whilet I didn't know anything about it. So I felt like I needed to catch up.

In short: you should stop assuming things about people.
