Wow there is actually someone else on here who wants to remain single? I am astonished. I would say do what god plants in your heart to do. I have a strong desire to lead a single life, and if that is how you feel too, then don't be ashamed at what the married say to you.

You have never been in a relationship before? Neither have I, and I am still a virgin too, I say with great pride. I grew up a bit of a lone wolf. I was homeschooled and hardly had any friends growing up, which suited me just fine because my autism made me into the introvert I am today.

Paul was speaking to a small group of people during a time period of much corruption and sexual sin. It's not to be taken on a grand scale and being single "should" be the path of those fit for it. It's not for everyone. I'm in a position where single is likely my destiny for medical reasons and personal choices. Not what I want but it's a reality likely to never change and I'm not upset about it.

I did not expect to be married but it is wonderful to be married to my husband. I am still able to be devoted to the Lord.

I personally am facing some mental health issues that make seeking a relationship nearly unthinkable right now. I've never been in a relationship before, not looking for one either, but I would be happy if I did find someone someday. I think companionship is important, and that finding someone to love and marry would be a great blessing. Being single can be a gift, but I don't think I want it to stay that way forever.

a lot of people take the book of Corinthians out of context. Paul was speaking in momentary placement based on the corruption and sin happening before him at the time of those scriptures being written. It was not meant as a generalization but could be used as one in the right context.

You are correct in your reply to what is clearly stated in Genesis. Sadly, more people are now ending up alone than ever before (at least documented as being such) and I am in that group.
