Aside from the apologetic points that other people could do a far better job at articulating than I can, the number one reason why I am not an unbeliever is the change that has been made in my thought processes and overall demeanor since coming to Christ. I'm far from perfect. I make my share of mistakes. But deductive reasoning (after considering all factors) would ultimately show that it was and is God that is making the difference in my life; not myself, money, education, or anything else. It's my higher power. And His name is Jesus.

I've been a Christian just two months and have made some personality changes that I didn't think I could make in a lifetime. God doesn't always make my life easy, but he sure likes surprising me very beautifully at times. He shrunk my ego big time.

As a nonfundamentalist, I respect your point of view. Though I think that the "higher power" comes from your unconscious mind. The story of Joseph in Egypt suggests that. But I know that most people have an easier time putting conceptual things into the form of people. That is perfectly fine in my opinion. I don't consider myself "better" than anyone who thinks that way. It is just that my rational mind has overpowered the part of my mind which used to believe in magic and miracles as a child. I still believe there is some truth to those things, but I also believe that it can be understood by science someday. I believe the real Jesus was looking to science. He had to be, because he believed in Truth in whatever form it took. And science is the only realm which can be proven or disproven by anyone.

Not to say that Jesus was anti-science, but he claimed to be God. Also, I know that you say you don’t think yourself better than others who think differently, but your posts elsewhere and your implying that rationalism and belief in God are mutually exclusive seems to say otherwise.

John 1

Jesus, which is the Word made manifest, is the Word. God spoke everything to life with His Word. So yeah, God created science, but He is the God of both creation and science. Genesis 1
I'm sure you already "know" this, but just don't understand. :yellowheart: I do hope and pray you make a turn around and become a Christ follower.

I grew up as a Christian, but didn't experience saving faith until a few years ago. I honestly can't imagine my life with out Christ; outside of Him nothing makes any sense.

Sometimes I think that just a "change" in itself is positive. I'm surprised whenever someone has a positive experience from an evangelical church, because there is no way I could ever attend another one. That's the kind of church I grew up in and would not wish to attend again. Practically any other kind would be fine to me.

Well, I'm glad you've found something that has helped you on your journey of self-improvement. :)
Thanks. It's definitely a journey. I wouldn't really call it self-improvement. To me, that sounds too much like I'm believing in God to be an add-on either with Himself or what He can give me. If there's anything close to it though, it starts inside first and effects my thoughts and choices.

There was a time when my 25 years of belief seemed to be nothing, unreal and useless. Having grown up all my life as a strong believer/faithful follower, it was a shock of my life that I even had such a thought or come to such a state of doubt. It was the lowest point of my life where everything felt like a random speck of dust out of nowhere. Do I still believe or give up? Do I even have a choice? Immediately, I said to myself that I have no choice but to believe the truth even when I can't feel it, because the history proves the existence of the person of Christ and the prophecies fulfilled in Him. That's when I met Him for real.

Because God gave me whatever faith I have. He was my last dim lifeline when I was sure I would have to kill myself, I couldn't take the pain anymore. Turns out the last lifeline was the best, and should have been the first. In Christ, there is real hope against all feeling, circumstance, suffering, sin and death.

This post made me extremely happy. :)
