"A scientific man ought to have no wishes, no affections, -- a mere heart of stone."- Charles Darwin
Do you know what Darwin meant by that quote?"A scientific man ought to have no wishes, no affections, -- a mere heart of stone."
- Charles Darwin
Thomas Malthus was English.
Well, your government certainly wants you to learn, doesn't it?The problem is that people don't want to learn.
And how does the #1 country -- whichever one it is -- handle this problem? by blaming it on religion? They do, though. The problem is that scientists are not educators and most teachers are not scientists. The information can be as free and accessible but it is useless if people don't understand it. There's also more to education than just science. Accessible science won't teach good english skills or an understanding of history.
As does yours. Education, especially in English, science, and mathematics, is vitally important for a nation to continue to flourish. If any of those three falter, the next generation will be woefully unequipped to deal with a very technological world, a world where knowledge is key. To paraphrase Carl Sagan (I think), we live in a world based on scientific knowledge, yet our society is almost entirely ignorant of science.Well, your government certainly wants you to learn, doesn't it?
By not running to religion for answers. And how does the #1 country -- whichever one it is -- handle this problem? by blaming it on religion?
I'd say that's about right."A scientific man ought to have no wishes, no affections, -- a mere heart of stone."
- Charles Darwin
It was Thomas Malthus, chief -- as in the Malthusian principle. No, no. That's not it. It was definitely a Germain guy. Rudolph Hilton? No that's not right. Alfred Hauser? No. Hmmm.
It was Thomas Malthus, chief -- as in the Malthusian principle.
We didn't riot in the streets though and go storm some senator's car, whose occupants had no idea what was going on.As does yours.
By not running to religion for answers.
We didn't riot in the streets though and go storm some senator's car, whose occupants had no idea what was going on.
(I can't find that picture, or I would post it.)
Yes, it is.No, it's not.
That's right -- and what happens when the population starts to get too high, according to the principle?Malthusianism is concerned about population levels.
Yes, it is.
That's right -- and what happens when the population starts to get too high, according to the principle?
Neither did we - we don't have senators. Are you referring to when Prince Charles and Camilla were attacked in their car?We didn't riot in the streets though and go storm some senator's car, whose occupants had no idea what was going on.
(I can't find that picture, or I would post it.)
Oh, I think we can fend for ourselves.See, here's the problem - don't claim that more successful countries aren't willing to help you when you whine about the advice that is freely given.
Oh, I think we can fend for ourselves.
I just don't understand why these guys on top aren't sharing their knowledge with the guys on the bottom.
Yes, we're 24th, or 27th, or whatever -- but out of 173 (?).
How?It'll reduce.
