Lets just use an example...Lets say I'm walking down the street, and a piano falls on my head...either there is a logical solution to said piano falling on my head (someone dropping it) or maybe an invisible man in the sky did it...now..

Here we are in the planet Earth. The only planet known to harbor life. The Logic in me would conclude that...we might have been created somehow, somewhere, sometime,....but how can one conclude that is was because of an invisible man in the sky? What if smart aliens created us, and even smarter aliens created them?...Where do you get an invisible man in the sky from?..There are literally a billion other explanations some reasonable, some not as to how we got here, but how you can come to the conclusion that GOD, and almighty being that nobody can see or hear or talk to did it is beyond me....

What if smart aliens created us, and even smarter aliens created them?
In your what if, you said that:

Here we are in the planet Earth. The only planet known to harbor life.
If this were true then where did the aliens come from? where did the smarter aliens come from?

,....but how can one conclude that is was because of an invisible man in the sky?

Who has concluded this? If you are truthfully looking for an answer to that question then Maybe you should post your query in InvisibleManInTheSkyForums.com.

There are literally a billion other explanations some reasonable, some not as to how we got here, but how you can come to the conclusion that GOD, and almighty being that nobody can see or hear or talk to did it is beyond me....

Just because you nor any of your friends have not seen or Heard from God, does that mean God can not be seen or Heard from anyone? When did you become the bench mark of the whole of the human experience?

Have you been to space? Has any of your friends? How do you come to the conclusion that Space or anything outside of your personal experience is real?

The simple answer is that you have faith that what you are told/what you have learned is true.. There are literally billions of other possible answers to what you know to be true.

For instance you could be on your very own version of the "Truman Show" right now, and the rest of us are in Heaven watching you interact with a Heavenly cast of actors pushing your buttons, and pulling your strings just to see how much more foolish, peer pressured information you are willing to believe before you find your way back to God...

Again just a possibility.

Who is drawing such a conclusion? Christians certainly aren't.

What if smart aliens created us, and even smarter aliens created them?...

You're joking, right? Seriously, you think aliens created us? LOL!

Look, who created the aliens? If you say, "Other aliens," you are left with the same question. At some point one has to posit a First Cause (aka: God)

Where do you get an invisible man in the sky from?..

Where did you get him from? I don't believe in an Invisible Man in the Sky.

There are literally a billion other explanations some reasonable, some not as to how we got here, but how you can come to the conclusion that GOD, and almighty being that nobody can see or hear or talk to did it is beyond me....

Do you really want to do the thinking necessary to arrive at a rational, thoughtful answer? Or do you just want to deal in cartoonish versions of God?

Really, any one who is willing to consider aliens as a legitimate answer to where we came from can't point fingers at those who believe in God. It takes more faith, I think, and a lot less reason to believe aliens made us than it does to believe God did.

Thanks for the chuckle!

Peace.

I'll admit that I stole this from a website, though I can't recall the name. Once again, not mine.

So, the question is why do people believe in God? Let's step away from Christianity and see if we can't at least reach the conclusion that it is probable that the universe and everything in it is the outcome of intelligent design, ie, a God figure.

In the universe, there are universal laws of mathematics, yes? 2+2=4 absolutely. If we can agree that mathematical laws exist, then we have our start.

Next we have to agree that there are universal laws of logic. No statement can be true and false at the same time, A is absolutely equal to itself, etc etc. If we agree, lets move on.

Now, can we also agree that there are universal laws of science? Gravity is an example. Newton's laws are another. If universal laws of science exist, then we are in good form.

Next, are these laws material, or immaterial? Are the laws of science something you can physically touch? What about mathematics? Logic? Probably not. Let's move on if we agree.

Now, are these laws universal? Does math suddenly change once it is performed on the moon? Does gravity suddenly cease to exist on Pluto? If they are universal, excellent!

Final question, are these laws changing or unchanging? At some point in history, will 2+2 not equal 4? If they do not change, we've arrived at a very important place in this small journey through random questions.

The kicker: If you believe that there are universal laws of mathematics, universal laws of science, universal laws of logic, that these laws are immaterial, that they are unchanging, and that they are, in fact, universal, then you believe that there is a fair bit of order in the universe.

And in such an orderly universe, doesn't it stand to reason that it is insanely unlikely that it all happened by accident? So if we remove the idea that randomness leads to perfect order, we're left with intelligent design. Now, aliens could be a possibility, but what/who created them? Eventually, there has to be the eternal creator being. We call this being God.

So, not only faith, but logic has led me to believe in God. Wonderful question, and best of luck discovering the truth!

I didnt' start with "why does the world exist" and construct "God" as an answer.

This is a very common view of what religious people believe, but God isn't an old man in the sky with a long flowing beard (like in The Simpsons) and actually, He's not even a 'He' (God has no male reproductive organs, being eternal and infinite, so He can't really be a 'He'. God embraces both male and female characteristics, although Jesus chose to be born as a man).

If God was an old man in the sky then He would be a finite God, somewhat like Zeus or Athena from Greek mythology. This is because for one thing, God would not just be a man, but He would be an 'old man' and thus have some kind of age. A being with an age is not eternal and infinite.

The best imagining of God is that of a perfectly loving person along the lines of 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, with no specific gender or physical characteristics, who is all powerful and all knowing. We have something in common with this God when it comes to having free will, making choices, love, and a moral sense, but we have nothing in common when it comes to our intelligence and limitations. We have this in common because God decided we would be like Him in many key ways.

There are literally a billion other explanations some reasonable, some not as to how we got here, but how you can come to the conclusion that GOD, and almighty being that nobody can see or hear or talk to did it is beyond me....

I think you could divide 'Why' answers up in lots of ways. For example, you could say aliens made life, that a comet made life, that life made itself, that we live in a Matrix and so on.

But there's one division you can make that has EVERY other explanation on one side, in 'column A' and only ONE explanation on the other side, in 'column B', for why we exist.

The universe exists because either A: a finite cause, or B: a cause that comes from the infinite.

'Monotheism' is essentially saying the answer is 'B'. Everything else says the answer is something within 'A'.

So there is something special and unusual about monotheism when it comes to 'Why' that all the other explanations you mentioned don't have. It's really a unique kind of answer. Christianity is an interpretation of this 'type B' answer.

It is beyond you that God, an Invisible and incorporeal being created life on earth. Then, you suggest that smart aliens did the act of creating us. Very good, and who created the smart aliens? Did they appear out of nothing? Aristotle said that only nothing can come out of nothing. If you can prove to me that the Primal Cause is someone or something else rather that God Himself, I am ready to join you in the desbelief of God.

We don't base it on nothing at all. There are writings that say it's true. You choose to either believe it or not believe it. But they state that it's the truth. And we CAN see (some of us) God and we CAN hear from God. And He is involved in my life and He talks to me. And He confirmed that it was Him in the Bible. Although it's true that some who think hear God, actually hear demons. But at least it proves that we have a spiritual world around us, which the Bible talks about...

And people all over are talking about miraculous things happenning to them...
Some Christians have testimonies how God has provided for them and rescued them all through their life (in an amazing way).

He said: if you seek me WITH ALL YOUR HEART SOUL AND MIND, you will find Me.

In order to seek Him, you need to focus your mind/thoughts on Him. Just talk to Him. He is everywhere, He can hear your thoughts. (He responds to mine). And you can learn about Him from the Bible too. He talks through various ways. He talks through the Bible too. He talks through people, songs, statements, pictures...you name it. What is your favorite thing to do? Maybe He'll talk to you through that. Some see God in math. Some in a galaxy. Some in nature. Some in songs. And it's good. Because He is everywhere and His imprint is everywhere. He is the inspiration behind the love songs. He is the one who helps people discover scientific and mathematical principles. He is the one who inspires movies (some) and writings. He is the one who inspires people to paint. Everything we have is from Him. He is our Father. And He gave gifts to men: He gave a little bit of Himself to each person (we call them gifted, or gifts). It's all Him. It's all from Him.

The Bible says: "In Him we move and have our being". He sustains the world with His powerful word.

He is LOVE. (Not just loving, but Love itself.) He is wisdom. He is magic. He is knowledge. He is everything. But He also IS a person who loves to talk to us. He told me that He loves it when I talk to Him. He loves to experience me. He wants me to feel His love. Because He is love, He wants to give love. Love gives. That's His nature. Giving.

But He gave men free will and because of that we have huge evil problems in the world. But that time is passing. Soon (not sure how soon), He'll reign in the world and then there won't be evil anymore. Soon He will not allow people do what they want and therefore there will be love and peace.
