By and large, at least in America, most who become atheists do so because of revulsion at the actions of "Christians" as they perceive them.

That would be an extremely silly reason to become an atheist. Just because you get upset at a Christian who behaves badly doesnt mean there isn't a God. God is either there or not. How people act has no bearing on that whatsoever.

Er.... this is the Christian Forums... if you dont like 'holy scriptures' popping out, maybe you should try the Atheist Forums. Not trying to run you off, in fact I think you should stay. But if you are going to be aggravated at scripture "popping out", a christian forum may be a bad choice for you.
Nice.
I said nothing of myself being aggravated with you presenting scriptures..
Yet you said you were presenting them because I started a debate..which I didn't. Then you assert you would not accept advice from an atheist of which I did NOT attempt to give you any..

I know this is a christian forum btw I was a staff member here for a very long time, all the way up to an admin..And I'll tell you something I learned from that...HERE at christian forums..ALL are entitled to their opinions as long as they don't violate rules. So whether it be my opinions or my advice I'll speak my mind and I'm sorry if you find that terribly inconvenient..You could always place me and every other non believer on ignore so you wouldn't have to see anything they had to say. It might make your box more comfortable.

Care to visit the general apologetics forum and discuss your statement.."God is either there or not" ?

Regardless, makes no difference to me..I promise the following is not advice..
You said,
"How people act has no bearing on that whatsoever" < This regarding if christians behave badly to others or present their message in a way that makes erm..Your "light" look dim...

How do people come to know about your christ?

Romans 10:14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

So let's say one of the persons who present this message "behaves badly" or is just a real jerk..what do you think the unbelievers will think of your "message", your religion? Why would they have a reason to believe..one bad experience may turn them away from that religion forever where they would not even consider it..Don't you think?

Though I turned away from christianity for a totally different reason. Had nothing to do with the way literalist, fundamentalist, christains behave.

Texas Lynn, in the above post, you do realize that the point of God's existence or lack thereof was not addressed, do you not? :p

Since it doesn't say anything about that I would assume not, but how you come to ask me a loaded question with the blithy-bli smylie is something I do not realize.
