We ask her for her prayers, same as we ask you for yours.
There's a lot more to praying to Mary than asking her for prayers. Catholic prayers to Mary replace prayers to God. Big difference. Here's one example:

Holy Mary,
help those in need,
give strength to the weak,
comfort the sorrowful,
pray for God's people,
assist the clergy,
intercede for religious.
Mary all who seek your help
experience your unfailing protection.
Amen.

Everything mentioned here should have been directed to God. Here's another example which shows how Mary replaces God:
My Queen, My Mother, I offer
myself entirely to thee.
And to show my devotion to thee,
I offer thee this day, my eyes,
my ears, my mouth, my heart,
my whole being without reserve.
Wherefore, good Mother, as I am thine own, keep me, guard me as thy property and possession.
Amen.

Please post this scripture, that says what you claim.

Here's mine:

27 And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!”

28 But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” Luke 11:27-28

Anyone can say anything they want, but that doesn't make it true.
It is NOWHERE in scripture. I know the Bible, I've read it many times, and the hail Mary is NOT in the Bible, it's only in your head, you've been brainwashed. The only thing in the Bible about this is that her womb is blessed, nothing more. Nowhere does the Bible say anything about Mary hearing you doing whatever it is you want to call it after she died. Nowhere is there an example of anyone asking Mary to intercede for them while she was alive. Nowhere does the Bible mention anything about asking someone in heaven to pray for anyone, nowhwere.
I do read the Bible, show me one verse that says Mary can do what you claim now that she's dead.
(I keep asking this) Show one verse that says we are to do this, or can do this.
Show me where it says people that die go straight to heaven or hell.
You know what, forget it, you'll just post another bunch of verses that are not related and claim it's proof.
You posted a lot of verses, but not one backed up anything you claim. You don't understand the Bible.

Yea, sometime people will ask others to pray for them, but you make is a necessity. Nowhere is this said to be done in the Bible, nowhere does the Bible ever say to use Mary to "relay" your prayers, yet it's the biggest part of your religion, biggest part of your lives.

If you want to pray, why wouldn't you just pray to God directly as Jesus told us to do? Jesus taught us to pray to God in his sermon on the mount. "Our father", he taught us to pray directly to God. He didn't say "sometimes", or once in a while, he said Matthew 6:9 Pray then like this, Our Father in heaven.
I think I know the answer, it's because there is no personal relationship with God, most catholics have no personal relationship, most are actually scared of God, so they feel they need someone else to pray for them, kinda like hiding behind Mary. Me, I have the Holy Spirit with me, in me, part of God with me, and I can talk to him as a friend all day long, any time, all the time, while driving, studying, riding my bike. This is something the catholic church avoids teaching, many protestant church's also avoid teaching this, you need to learn how it is to have the God with you. That is what the Holy Spirit is, part of God, with us. You don't need a dead person to intercede, because if you have the Holy Spirit, God is right here with you, feeling your pain, feeling your joys, guiding you, comforting you, listening to you, watching your accomplishments and failures. I wish everyone could understand how wonderful this is. It's my prayer that everyone gets this. You can hear his guidance, you can feel his presence, you can feel his comfort, you know he's with you.
This is the biggest message in the New Testament was for us to show Jesus in us. He said, Revelation 3:20 'Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me." If Jesus is in you, why would you need Mary?
The more I think about it, I think that's it, the need for Mary is to fill the void Where God should be. All the time spent talking to Mary is time that should be spent with God. If Mary was alive today, she would surely be appalled by all the time people spend talking to here when they should be talking to God.
But I could be wrong...

And why would I want to have a saint pray for me when according to the Bible, I am a saint, all God's children are saints:

Wow, I just looked this up because I was wondering where you got this and wow.
This is worshiping Mary, this is of devils, totally EVIL. "I offer myself entirely to thee." Really, and they can't see that this is worship? Any catholic that has said this, has left God and is in league with the devil. Entirely to Mary, nothing left for Jesus, nothing for the Father, the creator, everything for Mary, how can anyone with a brain, not see this is blasphemous?
So, looking farther, I see that they call her "Queen of Heaven", where is that in the Bible?
Then this: He chose Mary as the instrument through whom we should go to Him. This isn't in the Bible, another man made lie to keep people from God.

This is why you can't convince them of the truth, while God's children have the Holy Spirit, they have invited demons into their lives.
We are to give ourselves to God, not Mary. We are HIS children, not hers. We are to devote ourselves to God, the one who created the world, the one who created all mankind, not Mary, who created nothing. The Holy Spirit put Jesus into Mary's womb, Mary did no create anything.
This explains what I said in my last post. I wondered why catholics pray to everyone else except God. Jesus told us, in the sermon on the mount, to pray "Our father", to pray to God directly, so I suspect they are scared of God, well, this confirms it. Satins angels are everywhere, if God is not with you ("My Mother, I offer myself entirely to thee") then the demons are controlling you, and of course you'll be scared of God... Just a thought, I'm learning, always learning, but only through God and his word.

She is alive in Christ.

The Bible forbids Necromancy, which means going to the dead for esoteric knowledge. No one asks Mary for knowledge from beyond the Grave. We ask her for her prayers, same as we ask you for yours.
She was alive in Christ, she's dead now and will not open her eyes until Jesus returns, then those who are dead in Christ shall meet up with him first, then those left will follow. 1 Thessalonians 4:16
If she can hear you, then it would be in God's word, so show me, teach me using God's word.

Our God is the God of the living and not the dead. I highly suggest you hit the 'click to expand' tab on those scriptures I posted and then get back to me.
That's not in God's word, God's word says "the dead in Christ shall rise first" 1 Thessalonians 4:16
My mother died when I was born, so you are saying God abandoned her because she died? That is foolish.

So, what do you think becomes of the human soul after death?
I don't go by what "I think", I go to the Bible, God's word:
Death is referred to as sleep, and as you read in these verses, when Jesus returns, all that are in the graves, the dead, the sleeping, shall hear his voice and come forth.
You have to understand time, for the dead, time does not exist.

This says it best, we are now mortal, only when Jesus returns does he make his people immortal.

I don't make assumptions, and I don't blindly listen to a pastor, priest or pope, I go to God's word, this is where the truth is, this is where I go to make sure what I'm being told, is from God.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
This is why I'm here, to correct and be corrected. There are things I still have to learn, and when shown from the Bible, I'll listen and learn, it's profitable and edifying. When it's just from man, someone just saying it with no scripture, I'll study and either show they are right, or prove they are wrong. Here, I see so much that is wrong.....
This is what the reformation was all about, the catholic church swayed from the truth, apostasy set in, a great apostasy, and wise men like Calvin, Martin Luther among others, spoke out.
The pope is trying to say the protest is over, protestantism is done, that's not true. What's happening is many protestants are falling away from the truth and joining the pope in apostasy:
2 Thessalonians 2:1 Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, 2 that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. 3 Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. 5 Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things? 6 And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. 8 Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; 9 that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, 10 and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. 11 For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, 12 in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.

It should have read, "Scripture says that all generations will call Mary blessed." The verse is Luke 1:48
Yes, she was blessed. She carried and gave birth to Jesus, she was able to spend time with Jesus. All who were with him while he walked the earth were blessed.

It never says to talk to her, and definitely does not say to put her ahead of God like the Consecration to Mary does:
"My Queen and my Mother, I give myself entirely to you;"
This is worship, you are supposed to give yourself to God. the Consecration to Mary is evil, of the devil, it's worship, entirely to Mary, nothing left for God.
This is the problem with the catholic church, they take one verse out of the Bible, misinterpret it, then make a whole doctrine out of it. Open you're eyes, God made you, and he wants you, your entire self, all of you. Exodus 34:14 says he's a jealous God. God is a jealous God, and when you say "Queen and my Mother, I give myself entirely to you" you anger God.

Think about this, why am I here? Why am I showing what God's word says? I care, and I don't want to see people fall. Whether you believe what he Bible says or not, doesn't make any difference in my life, but it does in yours.

Oh you must be one of those soul sleep folks. Sorry, don't agree.
So you don't agree with the Bible, God's word. You've allowed yourself to be brainwashed. I never said this is my idea, my thought, this isn't from me, it's just from the Bible, something I read, and study, and spend time, you know, spending time in God's word, do you? Or do you just listen to what you're told, without question. If you care at all about God, then look to his word:
Death is referred to as sleep. It says right in the Bible, when Jesus returns, all that are in the graves, the dead, the sleeping, shall hear his voice and come forth. How can the dead come forth if they're in heaven, c'mon, use the brain God gave you, think, use some logic, PRAY to GOD about this.
You have to understand time, for the dead, time does not exist.

This says it best, we are now mortal, only when Jesus returns does he make his people immortal.

It should have read, "Scripture says that all generations will call Mary blessed." The verse is Luke 1:48

46 And Mary said:

“My soul magnifies the Lord,
47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.
48 For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant;
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.
Luke 1:46-48

OK, so Mary is blessed.

So is Abraham, and all of us who believe in Christ Jesus for salvation.

So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.
Galatians 3:9

The point should be clear, Mary is not God, and should not be regarded any more than those of us who believe, and even more blessed are those who hear the word of god and keep it.

27 And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!”
28 But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

Luke 11:27-28

Yes. It is at this point that Mary becomes an idol.

Martyrs do
Revelation 6:9-10

And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

If that is true, then why should any Catholic pray to Mary since she is powerless on her own? Why not pray directly to God, who is all-powerful and graciously hears each and every prayer offered to him?

I apologize for taking this thread on this tangent of soul-sleep. If you would like to discuss this further I recommend that you start a new thread in General Theology.

Please note that the martyrs are not praying on behalf of living folks on earth. There is no indication in scripture for dead saints praying for living saints.
