I think we're saying the same thing in different ways
Perhaps, I'm just trying to help the OP.
This is what is not in question.
He is sovereign.
Could He have "taken away" all our difficulties ? Sure. But what He desires is our salvation. My husband's and son's conditions aren't punishments from God. In fact, both conditions have a strong genetic component; they were both born in a fallen world.
Bingo. The fall.
We're talking the same language, yes.
Hmm, wonder why that might be.
Can God heal them both ? Yup. Did He ... no, but He's provided them with the strength, the ability, to go on - in Him, through Him. And when they've met their limit, some of the burden has been lifted. And for me, too. But ultimately, everything is for salvation, and I'll trust God with whatever He permits -- doesn't mean its easy, but in Him, it can be fruitful/good for its purpose/xristos.
And I agree, and I do trust God with whatever He wills.
I hope the guys arent in pain Thekla,
I am such a huge baby when it comes to pain.
Yes, ALL things work together for good.
I believe though, that I was giving some examples
of why we suffer and that's why I was speaking
of sowing and reaping.
Reaping is one very common cause of suffering.
Jesus said you'll reap whatcha sow.
But we always act all surprised when it happens.
I think that is my new favorite quote.
I praise ( thanking God )more than pray ( requesting of God ). Because I already know if I am praying for the right stuff the prayer is already answered in Gods time not mine.
I hear ya. I dont want anything more or less than Father wants
for me. He knows everything, I'd be pretty ignorant to want to
pray for something without adding "
if it be thy will".
(unless He's already made it known that it was His will, in which
case I'd be ignorant if I DID add "if it be thy will" )
Reminds me of those guys who were sick of manna, whining for
something that 'they' thought they needed.
He gave it to them alright. But they'd a been
healthier on
the manna

IMO
