Generalizing: Because we don't want him to. Every sin is a rejection of God and pushes him farther from us. This is the fault of humans. God is doing everything he can to push against our darkness, but in the end, he will not impose himself on anyone against their will. More people would not be saved if he revealed himself to the world. It would increase how much people that reject him are accountable to God for (increasing their punishment, Luke 12:47-48), and reduce the reward for those that had faith in him. Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29, 1984 NIV) For those that believe in him, a closer connection to him than can be imagined is available (→ Mark 12:30).
