I often hear people say they are under a spiritual attack from the enemy. on the thread about generational curses a few folks stated it isn't possible because Jesus saves us from the curse.

BUT I do wonder if satan can try to tempt us as believers-what is that supposed to accomplish and why does God allow us to be attacked in such a way?

A comedian in the 70's had a schtik where he awayas said "The devil made me do it". However, James does not credit Satan with this job. He says it is our own evil desire. It actually shows us where the chinks are in the wall of our faith where firey darts can get through and where we need to shore up our faith. If you read the second set of scriptures from james you will see that by enduring temptation and standing on the pure Word of God we grow stronger. (The wall breaches are repaired) Times of testing and persecution also come quite apart from any spiritual weakness we have, however, the same strategy applies Be strong in the Lord and in the Power of His Might. (see scriptures about God's full armour here)

Eph 6:10

Jam 1:13When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;

Jam 1:14but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed.

Jam 1:15Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

Jam 1:16Don't be deceived, my dear brothers

.....

Jam 1:22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

Jam 1:23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror

Jam 1:24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

Jam 1:25But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it-he will be blessed in what he does.

ever heard the phrase misery loves company? the devil has to be the most miserable state there is. he is a spirit void of anything good think about how opposite of God he is. he tempts God's children in hopes that he will become "like God" and have some sort of following.. why not? he's got nothing else better to do. we as believers know Who will be victorious in the end, but the devil is messed up in the head in every way imagineable- the "great perverter" he can take anything intended good by Our God, and distort it to be sin. I don't really know why he bothers, the Bible never really says. Could it be that his derranged mind can't see beyond, that God WILL be victrious and justice will be served? I don't know.. but it gives our lives that much more meaning.

I don't know how much scripture this is based on, but my opinion is that Satan doesn't give a rip about us, whether we're hurt or not. I believe that what he wants is to hurt the heart of God by trying to hurt us.

The devil seeks to steal, kill and destroy us (John 10:10)

But in James 1:2-4 we are told the reason we are tempted.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and ccomplete, not lacking anything.

This verse shows that believers will be tempted but that temptation can have a postive purpose, it tests our faith making us mature and complete.

Hey JD, when you understand the "earthly and heavenly things" of the natural and supernatural realm, and receive the knowledge how all these things work, that is, the workings of the powers of darkness, Satan’s forces, through unclean spirits, demons, devil, evil one, roaring lion, principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and spiritual hosts. You won’t find them written in His Word, because it’s silent on these sorts of things, and they are the understanding and knowledge that most believers “lack”, because they reject “understanding and knowledge” and by doing so they will be “destroyed” (Hosea 4:6)

Throughout His Word we are warned: not to give place to the devil: to resist the evil one: that he roams around like a roaring lion seeking to devour: and that they return from “dry places to the house that they came from to re-enter”. So, when your house is “empty, swept, and put in order”, then they can attack and re-enter. The “house” is your “soul” were there are many thing going on in that part of the body of our life, such as our will, pride, rebellion, thoughts, emotions, shortcoming, attitudes, assumptions, values, desires, needs, purposes that are all jumbled in together and are caused by offence, hurt, trauma, or abuse. All of these things also cause anger, bitterness, resentfulness and unforgiveness that allow the enemy to badger and berate you with what the Bible calls trials, temptations, and tribulations, which are referred to as demonisation through oppression, suppression, and obsession.

Satan’s forces are there right now, right beside us daily as we walk the narrow path that are littered with many “wide gates” that can lead us to destruction, they are waiting for us to make a mistake, remember we are walking among people who are controlled by the “prince of the world”, the “father of lies”.

When a believers claims to be under attack, then those attacks come in many different forms, such as at work all of a sudden a person who you get on okay with turns on you viciously---yes, they say that the person must be having a hard time, and that would be so, because the demons are in control. Through such people, you are tempted to get angry and bitter toward the person who gave you a hard time. It happens all the time. At times those people will come up to you next day and say sorry, and say: “I don’t know what came over me!” Yep, they are demonised, but we can also put it down to a medical problem.

Yes, our Lord Jesus Christ became a curse and HE died on the cross for our sins.

Generational sin is one that is thrown around by anti-generational sin followers.

I heard many believers say the words “impossible”, and they found out later on that it’s “possible”, I’ve hear some believers say that demons can’t tough them---never see them again. Sad as it is, many believers are not fully aware of how the enemy works.

I can only speak for myself and many other believers who had suffered from unnecessary oppression suppression, and obsession through the curse that was passed down our family line through idol worshippers and occultists. I was one myself until I cleanse my hands and purified my heart and resist the enemy bringing my “empty, swept, and put in order house” into being filled, cleansed, purified and walking in obedience and discipline with our Lord Jesus Christ, and by this action believers are delivered from evil and set free from captivity through demonisation.

The enemy will send his unclean spirits, demons, devil, evil one, roaring lion, principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and spiritual hosts against you in spiritual abuse and attacks, and at times this abuse and attacks can be extreme, but you put on the full Armour of God and stand and withstand and submit to our Lord Jesus Christ and they will be cast out in Jesus’ Name.

Hello:wave:

Yes, but we arent delivered from this body of corruption until we get the resurrection body. Until then we have a perishable physical body. Still cursed and attacked.

Look at a believer who was born in 1602. If all the curse was gone he'd still be alive now. How many people from 1602 are still around now?

He'll get his resurrection body soon though. If the Lord tarries then we are all going to die because of a generational curse. We will all die because of the sin of our father Adam.
