Why Does Society Consider a Sunny/Warm Day as a "Good Day?"

Weather reports will say things like, "it will be a nice day" when they talk about high temperatures and sunny and cloudless days.

My question is if that is not making other humans depressed? There are those that consider a "good day" to be dark and cloudy and cool and breezy.

Why does, "it is a nice day" frowned upon when someone comments a cool, cloudy day? Not everyone enjoys sun and light. Some people enjoy a cool, not so bright day instead. Or others, stormy weather (me me me, I used to go to the beach during blizzards and hurricanes).

So just wondering why a nice day is linked to only sunny days, not rainy, dark, etc.

Been pondering this for a long time.

Thanks for your opinions.

I think everyone has their own opinions of what is nice weather. Most reporting the weather though go with the mainstream view, 70s and sunny is better than 40s and cloudy. A somewhat accurate generalization though there are those that would disagree.

Here is a scripture that should help settle this in your mind.
Romans 14:5 (KJV) 5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

Because the fruit is hard to put down. Since it was offered to us, we judged everything as either good or bad. Once we put it down, everything will just "be" and we will no long take thought for tomorrow. But, like i said, it is hard to put down....and, until we do, we can expect to continue to judge and be judged...

So just wondering why a nice day is linked to only sunny days, not rainy, .

going by our local meteorologist, it's because he says you can mow, play outside with the kids, walk, bar-be-que, go to a park, etc

he'll say what days are good for mowing often
so mostly, what days people can get out and enjoy the weather and be active

we have walked on rainy days but if it's windy, the umbrella wants to blow away
we don't mow in the rain as it clogs the mower

It is all about light and darkness. Jesus is the light of the world. In Him there is no darkness. Studies have shown that people's health is better during Summer months where there are more sunny days. Personally Winter months are my most challenging. I do not care much for dark dreary days.

I'm so glad someone else brought this up. Whenever I say it's a beautiful day (to me 70s to low 80s with breeze and some overcast) people look at me like I'm nuts. They think "pretty days" are the blinding sun with 80% humidity and in the 90s in Florida without clouds. Yech.

I live in Florida bit I do not see days in the 90s as pretty days. Pretty hot days yes. Spring and fall are my pretty days. Or any day the AC is not needed.

As a general rule no matter where you live it is either to hot or to cold. Young people are more adaptable so the weather has to be more extreme. For them they go more by rain that would stop them from getting out and doing things.

When air conditioners first came out a lot of people began to move south because they could handle warmer conditions. In the deep south before they had to go to Africa to find people that could handle the working conditions there. We know that did not work out very well. If you go to countries like Columbia people tend to live up in the mountains at 5,000 feet of elevation or higher where it is cooler.

No matter where I lived, from growing up on the beaches of towns surrounding Boston, MA, to the heat in Raleigh, NC, I always... always prefer stormy weather. I sued to be known that if there was a hurricane outside, I be at the beach.
These days I still prefer the temperature to be an average of 55F. Anything higher and I am hot and sweaty (and image me working in IT labs of thousands of servers every day in that heat). I rarely use the heat in the winter. I am outside in the nice, frozen cold in a t-shirt while others are bundled in coats and hats and scarves.
Light makes me TIRED. I am more energized at night when cold, or cloudy or stormy afternoons. I am more awake and active in those types of weather. A "nice day" of 70-80 with sunny goodness, makes me cranky, sleepy, and down right annoyed.
When I hear on the news "it will be a good day," I get angry and depressed. Just imagine someone with the personality of Grumpy Bear, Eeyore, and the (green) Hulk having to wake up for work on a sunny Monday morning. Just let that settle into your minds for a moment....
