I suppose at its very core it is an emotion that reminds us that something or someone is a threat. When it becomes consuming or applied towards a non threat, then it is a real problem.

I think hatred, in general, is related to our irascible appetite (as it used to be called), which repels whatever is perceived as harmful. To repel that which appears harmful is an extension of our general desire for what is good and beneficial. Hatred and anger are secondary attitudes rooted in some form of fear, I think. If I hate someone or something, it helps to ask myself, "What am I afraid of in this instance?"

What all good purpose can such a destructive emotion bring ?

To loan a part of an article from the Freeman files, Tzvi Freeman.

Where is the lowest of worlds?

You are in it.

This is the world of total otherness,

a world where there dwell creatures that have no sense of anything else other than this world.

Some even sense that themselves are the masters of this world,

that nothing else exists other than themselves,.

It is a material world; things could not get more discretely tangible, more selfabsorbed,

more otherly than down here.

Hate put Jesus on the cross so He could die for our sins and reconcile us with God; so God was able to use hate for His all-loving purposes. But the people having that hate did not benefit from that purpose of God, unless later they repented and trusted in Jesus.

However, the time will come when God no longer uses hateful people. But they will be used to transport their hatred into the flaming sewer which burns with fire and brimstone.

Perhaps it's due in part to the fact that I'm an epistemological solipsist, but I don't really have a problem with evil and hatred. I simply consider them to be a necessary component of a meaningful life. I look back at my parents and grandparents who lived through the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl... at the same time, and I think... take that millennials. You think that the 21st century has been tough... you shoulda been there for some of the preceding ones. But that's also why they're referred to as the greatest generation. Not because of what they had, but because of what they endured. That's what makes a person's life truly inspirational... the manner in which they endure the hardships that life unjustly lays upon them.

Life is marked by several types of challenges. There are those that we choose... like climbing that mountain. There are those that are common to everyone, like dealing with the insecurities of growing up. And then there are those that we don't choose, and that aren't common to everyone... like being the victim of one of life's many injustices. It's these challenges, which although the most difficult... both to justify and to endure... are ultimately the hallmarks of a truly inspirational life.

So you see evil, and hatred, and injustice. And I see inspiration... and hope. I see a people sustained by their capacity to endure. You see an ugly world... I see an amazingly beautiful one.

And I wonder... what does God see, and would sacrificing one inevitably mean sacrificing the other? In contemplating Christ's life is it the hatred that you're supposed to see, or the beauty?

We hate things because we are persons, that's why we were created in the image of God, God also is a person and hates things, and all the other emotions and attributes that makes a person.
Why does God even need human emotions ?

We have human emotions because God is a person and have emotions the same like us, that is part of the reason why it says we were created in his image.
