  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why does God use people?

Hi everyone-

I have been pondering something. Why is it that God uses people? There is an answer! I think God may be about to give me the answer and if He does it will be mind-blowing! Can anyone explain this to me?

I think it may have something to do with this- mankind is responsible for God's will to be done on the earth. God only intervenes when things get way out of whack. Obviously God can do anything He wants but He chooses not to, for that reason. The scripture says "on earth as it is in heaven" God does nothing on the earth except in answer to prayer, or unless He gets angry. Also I think that the way God made things are that you must have a physical body (such as ours) to have authority on the earth. This is why spirits try to get into people, they cannot act without a physical body. Any ideas as to the answer to this?

Hi Dave, the Father sent Jesus here to save us from our sins by dying in our stead on the Cross. Did He do this,

1. as an answer to our prayers?
2. because He was angry with us?
3. for another reason (or reasons) altogether?
What does the Bible tell us?
... spirits ... cannot act without a physical body.
Is that true? I'm not so sure. Here are a couple different examples that seem to say otherwise .. Acts 2:1-4, 12:6-10.

It also occurs to me that if a spirit being like Satan needs a physical body to act against us, why does the Bible tell us of our great/continual need to "resist" him .. Ephesians 6:11; James 4:7; 1 Peter 5:8-9, as well that our real struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places instead .. Ephesians 6:12?

Thanks!

God bless you!!

We were created to delight in Him and to delight in one another, so that what He wants.

God is a relational being, so are we, He wants us to love one another .... love requires a relationship with more than one. It's all about Love. God is love. He shared/shares that love with His creation ... an expression of His love.

We live in a fallen world right now and have the influence of the enemy to contend with .... someday it won't be like that .... I look forward to that day!

God could have written in big letters on the Moon: “I exist”, so everyone would acknowledge God’s existence, but is God just looking for people to acknowledge His existence and go on ignoring Him?

You want to have the opportunity while on earth to really get to know God one on one: have Him as a friend, have Him listen to you, have Him help you, have Him spend time with you, have Him teach you, have Him mentor you and even have Him correct you. You want to have the same situation as the twelve apostles had with Christ.
Well, that is what you are to have, every mature Christians has Christ/God dwelling within them, Christ works through hopefully millions of Christians to be Christ to millions of nonbelievers, so they can reach the point of having Christ live in and through them to be Christ to others. It is our (the Christian’s) privilege and honor to allow Christ to live through them mentoring others to the point of become a home for Christ to live through them.

In the beginning God made all that He had made and declared it "exceedingly good". He intends to keep that promise. So even here, in this fallen world, God continues to use created things for His purposes. People.

God came down and became human, the Incarnation, God has now united creation with Himself.

Jesus founds His Church, and tells them to preach the Gospel, to baptize. God Himself works through His Church, through His word, through His Sacraments.

Baptism isn't just getting wet, after all the one who is baptized is united to Christ in His death and resurrection (Romans 6:3-4), the one who is baptized is born again (John 3:5, Titus 3:5). How can water do that? The same way that a bronze snake could heal the Israelites and that a rock could burst forth water for Israel to drink. God has always used means, created means.

God's faithfulness toward His creation means that He is active and operating in visible, tangible, concrete ways that He has promised to be. The word of the Gospel is preached by ordinary sinful men and in this comes faith by those who hear (Romans 10:17), because this word is God's and when God speaks it comes to pass. He commits that His word is connected and attached to created things. The Gospel is preached by men, baptism is with water, the Lord's Supper is bread and wine.

Means. God has always used means. God is faithful and intends His creation toward goodness; so He uses the means of creation to heal creation.

God the Son became man and dwelt among us: Jesus Christ.
