  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've tried to be a good Christian for a good while now and everything either gets worse or stays as bad as it is already.

Do you really expect that being a Christian is going to give you good days all the time?

NO!

You're going to go through a LOT of stuff on your journey with Christ. Most of it won't be too fun. :( But it's to strengthen you on the things to come.

In all things pray. :prayer:

Please get some helpful counselling from a kind pastor or church worker. I am not diagnosing you, but I sincerely believe your problems are not so much religious as personal. No ridicule or disrespect intended. I believe you know in your head that God does not hate you, so you don't need to hear arguments. You need to feel loved... and you are loved.

It's really getting rediculous now. I've tried to be a good Christian for a good while now and everything either gets worse or stays as bad as it is already.

I know a God that sends His own Son to die on a cross isn't going to have too much sympathy for someone like me. But give me a break.

I would take cancer, aids, death on a cross, etc... anyday over this crap I have went through the past 10 years. And the future looks just as bad. Well, I did finally get a job last week, but oh yea, I got fired on the first day.

So for some of you who God doesn't seem to hate, could you just ask Him why I have to go through hell every day of my life? I was just wondering and all, He hasn't seem to have gotten back to me on that one yet.
You know, I really feel your pain and disappointment in life. I too have had a very trying time for the past 10 years. I too cry out to the Lord to ask why and I believe He's told me not to be dismayed by the difficulties of this world and the trials of life. It is only a short-time when you stop and think about eternity. To be with him in Paradise; all I have to do is believe in Him; believe that He loves me and that He died for me because I am very important to me. He loved me so much that He died for me so that I wouldn't have to go to hell for my sins. He went to hell for me.

So whenever I look at my life and the many difficulties I have suffered, I know that Jesus truly loves me and everytime something bad happens; He keeps giving me strength and courage to continue to live for Him.

My friend, the only thing there really is is Jesus. Pray (talk to Him), just like you're talking in this post. He will answer. Not only will He answer, He will bring you through the tough times. Read the book of Psalms. King David who turned out to be a man after God's own heart cries out throughout the Psalms. He definitely seemed to have a lot of problems! But God raised Him up and loved Him anyway! Keep talking to Him. Knowing He's with me brings me through all the bad things that happen. I know He's done the same for you - brought you through! Peace & Love

Shalom. Yeshua said that in this life we would have many troubles but to take heart because He has overcome the world. Let's take a look at the life of the apostle Paul for a moment. He was beaten on numerous occasions and imprisoned, and after enduring all of that, he was beheaded. But in the midst of all his trials and tribulations, he still found the will to praise G-d anyway (a sacrifice of praise). He said, "For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain" (Phil. 1:21). He said this shortly before his death. He also wrote about his own suffering, ". . . Three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep; . . . in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, . . . in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness—besides the other things which come upon me daily: my deep concern for all the churches" (2 Cor. 11:25-28).

In the midst of our own trials (no matter how long the duration), we can rest assured that what we're experiencing pales in comparsion to what Yeshua Himself suffered on our behalf or what the apostle Paul and the rest of the disciples suffered because of the gospel. I tell you stand firm and persevere because this world is not our home, and if you endure to the end, your reward will be eternal life. Keep fighting the good fight of faith, pressing on toward the goal. You are in the midst of the Refiner's Fire, and there will be beauty for ashes. And lastly, I leave you with these thoughts: the Christian walk is not for sissies or for the faint hearted. You can rest assured that if you're living for Yeshua, you will suffer for your faith, and you will have trials that will test your faith. And although Yeshua may not calm the storms of your life, He can calm you in the midst of them. All you need to do is trust and obey, remembering you do not struggle alone. He is with you always and He will not forsake you. Lay your troubles at the foot of the Cross and leave them there. Let the L-rd fight your battles, you already have been given victory in Him. G-d does not hate you. He made you in His image. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are His child and His Spirit dwells within you.

Amelia

"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of G-d" (Heb. 12: 1-2).

As someone who is watching my stepson die with cancer I admit that I took offense when I read where you said that you would rather have cancer than what you are going through. Believe me, it's not the same thing as knowing that a disease is growing within your body doing everything within its power to kill you. I watch my stepson fighting with everything in him to live, so please don't trivialize what he's going through.

I understand that you are going through a difficult time. There was a time in my life when I was convinced that God hated me too. In fact, I remember saying that God created two kinds of people...those He loves and those He likes to kick around when He's having a bad day. I was molested by my father who was a youth minister and then raped by the pastor of another church when I was a teenager. I felt if these "godly" men were doing this to me, then God must have truly hated me. It wasn't until God taught me to forgive these men (a long, very difficult process) that my life began to change. That's not to say that bad things don't happen anymore, because they do. However, I realized that God loves me and the bad things don't come from Him. It's important that we realize who our enemy is, and it's not God.

wmc1982, getting and keeping a job isn't easy. It seems nowadays, getting a decent job is even harder. even working at Walmart isn't good, they complain in the news all the time how bad it is to work at Walmart (which has hundreds of jobs)

my brother's been trying for a year, and when he had a job (at a church), they laid him off in a month, for a guy with a college degree.

my other brother has a college degree, and his boss who makes more obviously, doesn't even have a college degree. (and that brother doesn't make that much money either, considering he has a degree).

it's hard, competition is fierce. keep persevering, if you really want a good paying job (since that's all I can see from the edits, I don't know what else is going on), you will have to invest in some education, the more you get, the more the world pays. a boring business degree might be helpful, or something like that..

God is Love...His love is on-going forever. God never changes, we change. Just because you are feeling a certain way or things arent going your way, doesnt mean God hates you. Maybe you dont know much about Him in an intimate personal way, which causes you to doubt Him and to doubt His Love. Search yourself and find out why you feel God hates you. Ask God to reveal to you the root cause(s) of this.

very true, thank you. I was going through a tough time when I wrote this thread, but God has led me through that storm and my faith has been strengthened.

Praise be to Him
