... I just read quite possibly one of the most chilling passages in the bible

Job Chapter 2 verses 3 through 6

Not only is satan allowed to directly come into the presence of God at any time and have a conversation (even though the holiest of humans cannot do this)

but God puts his most faithful servant in the hands of Satan. Job chapter 2 verse 6 "And the Lord said to Satan, "Behold, he is in your hand, but spare his life"

I would like christians to talk about why they put their trust in a God that would hand them over to Satan at the drop of a hat.

Satan did not get something that he hasn't already have control over normally with the unbelievers. For the unbelievers, they have no one to protect them. Job did, and when the issue came up before the throne, the question was... Do you think Job would change his mind about God, if he was treated like an unbeliever who has no protection? God had faith in Job and their relationship to be able to withstand all that Satan could throw at him, and still not let go of his love for God. Satan thought their relationship was based on the protection that God provided Job. Just as a child loves their parents no matter what, Job loved God.

While I would not love to go through such test of my personal relationship with God as Job went through, I would hope that I will cling to Him, knowing it will all workout to His glory. Now that is faith under fire.

What about the original question, which was why do you trust God?
I trust God because I feel His Presence in my life, and when I accepted Him into my heart, I felt His peace, and knew that the truth was found in His Word. It is an act of faith, but I know that God has never failed me, when I completely put my trust in Him. That doesn't mean I am going to get answers for all my prayers immediately, or that everything I want is going to happen...but it is His Sovereign promise to never fail me.

I'm actually the one He saves from Satan, for He has given me His Life with which to overcome!

Satan has no power over a child of God, because the child of God is hidden in Christ Jesus! Jesus LIVES in that child! And Jesus is God! He is the creator of the universe who always truimphs!

To ask why I trust God..

It's no longer I, but the Spirit of Christ Jesus the Lord God in me!

He KNOWS who He is..

I trust God as I would my dearest friend. He covers my back when it really counts. He is there to listen to all my woes and joys. He is there for comfort and reproof. I trust Him with my life, just as He trusted me with His.
Can you explain how God trusts you with His life? An all powerful God needs you to have "His back" too?

We can spend out whole lives calling on god - sometimes he calls back. Sometimes god needs to ask us if we will still praise him even in the hardest times, will we still see him when the road is rough and will we still have faith in him when it looks hopeless? Job was a faithful servent and even though the devil through all he could at him, his faith never stopped and never faultered. Life cannot be a 24/7 blessing from above, we need to work with god as much as he works with us. If we cannot defeat satan in our lives, how can we grow stronger in god. I still have faith and will always have faith even when it looks hopeless (which is has before) because if when all the chips are down and life is miserable, if you can still praise god with all ur heart...he will pour out a blessing on you like nothing you have ever seen before. I still have faith because i know god is bigger! we continuously put god to the test...yet when he tests us we scream and rant "why god"? thats when faith means its most.

You will note that Job, though sorely pressed, had faith or trust in God.As a result he received back much more than he had lost. His family had been destroyed, but they had only died out of this life.I have no doubt that they were safe in the next.As Christians we do not seek this life. The tribulations of it are a teaching tool God uses. If we hold fast, to the end, we will be saved. The rightous live by faith.

Where do you come from? Was there a creator or designer or did you evolve from an amoeba or are you the result of some voodoo explosion?

IMHO there is evidence of a Creator--we are part of a "secondary" world that exists and I choose to trust the "maker", whom has many 1st hand witness accounts of greatness and charity. Whom do you trust and on what basis?

The book of Job is a remarkable piece of literature written to explore the question "why does God let bad things happen to good people"? It's not a factual account of something that really happened.

That is only one interpretation of it. Many (including myself) believe it did actually happen and Job and his sufferings were real.

I would put my trust in the God of Job because that God was way, way ahead of Satan, which inferior creature God was in the process of making a complete fool of and all through the occasion of Job's subjugation to Satan. "But what about Job?" Even he, involuntarily speaking, was in process of humiliating the mighty, fallen angel Satan as the devil was working havoc upon an innocent man, which suffering Job did not properly merit and so was not the proper recipient of what he was receiving. Because God allowed Satan to unmeritoriously afflict Job, that suffering had to be compenstated by a restitution that justice demanded, hence, Job received twice as much as he had owned prior. Thanks Satan! Since it is not possible that the devil could have had a benevolent motive in striking Job, his malignant motive worked exactly opposite of what the devil's desired outcome was. So, good old Job involuntarily made a fool out of the devil and the Lord voluntarily made one out of him.

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God." - Romans 8:28a

you be missing the point ....
Satan had to ask permission to mess with my man Job in the old Covenant

Satan had to ask permission to mess with my man Peter in the New Covenant ...

Satan is on a "choke chain" , there is only so much leash , he is to test our resolve ... but do no more that God will allow & it is written in Acts and Job , that God will not suffer us more than we can handle

but , like Paul & his thorn ... you faith & my grace is sufficient ... effort , sweat, prayer , and faith are required to overcome the trials

James 1.2 count it as joy ; 1 peter 1.7 for a time , boot camp ...
