I'm just looking to have fellowship with more people, around my age! I guess I'm also hoping that this forum won't have some of the (for lack of better word) "pettiness" that I've seen on some of the other forums that I spend time in...even tho sometimes that makes for interesting reading! ;)

What is it about this new forum that attracted you to it?

What do you like about it?

Do you dislike anything about it?

How did you come to know about it?
I read the request for new forum post of another member. (Usually I stick in my subscribed threads, so, the fact that I was in the right place at the right time, to even know that this place existed, was shere providence IMO) And her reasons were a lot like mine. I don't really relate to the subjects in the womens forum. I don't want to talk about my marriage, because I don't need help in that department. I don't need help with parenting, I've been at it awhile already. I'm not a teenager. I'm too old for the Young Christians forum. I'm too young for the Golden Eagles forum. And I'm not in college.

I like that people here know what I'm talking about because we're the same age. (You have to explain to youngers. And the olders tend to scoff)

I don't think I really dislike anything in this forum. Except perhaps that it's not as active as I hope it will be someday.

Oh, I guess I answered the last question with my first answer. I found out about it, by reading the request in a request new forums thread.

How about you? I'm just curious to know how everyone else heard about this forum. And what they think of it so far.

I agree. Most of my friends are younger than I am...not in their forties. But, my husband is only 2 years older than I am. And I find that the thing that makes it nice about being close to the same age is having the same points of reference. The same childhood experiences. The same styles. The same music. And I, personally, you may not have this experience, find that it's a nice repreive from saying things and getting "the deer caught in the headlights" look from someone who wasn't born when whatever it is I'm referring to took place...or in more cases, doesn't get a joke that someone my age would easily get. And, I have a lot of friends in their 50's too. But, I get the distinct impression that they're patting me on the head when they talk to me. It's not that they're belittling, just speaking in the "You ain't seen nothin' yet kid" way that makes me feel kind of small and insignificant.

That's why I like this forum.

So, How did you hear about this forum andiesmama?

I'm here because you told me to be, Laurenda! :D

The serious answer is, I just turned 39 last week, and I had a bit of an... emotional (probably too light a word  ) reaction to it. Something about it being the last year I'll be in my 30's seemed to hit me hard for some reason. It kind of snuck up on me, completely unexpected.

So Laurenda repped me and mentioned this forum, and I thought maybe I'd come here and find other people with similar interests, similar experiences, and maybe it would help me get over myself! ;)

In the meantime, I've been so crazy busy I've only had time to post in one thread so far. Well, two, including this one. So maybe I'll answer again in a couple of weeks. :p

Well, I'm still sort of a newbie and this forum kinda popped out at me since I turned 40 this year.

I post here to make new friends because I am a SAHM and not much contact to the outside world and CF is "me time":D

I like the fun-loving feeling from everyone that posts here. Also I have had some great memories come back to me about my childhood and younger years....it's great to reflect on the good:thumbsup:

I dont see anything as of yet that I dont like, and hope I dont, I know on some other forums it's all debate or lashing out, I feel as though we are to edify and encourage one another instead of discourage and tear down! I always say "if you dont have anything good to say then dont say anything at all":amen:

Good Job on the forum:wave:

Why do you post in the "Midlife Christians Forum: A new forum for members in their forties."?
Because I am in my forties and it is good to relate to other people in their forties.

What is it about this new forum that attracted you to it?
Basically, the same reason that I posted above.

What do you like about it?
Many of the same reasons that andiesmama and Laurenda stated - We are in a unique time of our lives:cool:

Do you dislike anything about it?
That it is not very busy and I wish more men would post here. It is good to get perspective from both sexes:)

How did you come to know about it?
I believe andiesmama posted info in another forum so I checked it out! Hi andiesmama!!

Common, shared experiences. It isn't that I can't or don't enjoy conversation with people who are much older or much younger than I, but with people around my age I don't have to explain as much - we speak the same language (groovy;)). I also enjoy the fact that it's giving me the opportunity to think about things that I haven't thought about for years (like Bobby Sherman:thumbsup:).

Budding Thorn pointed out the forum and asked me to vote on the name. I did.

 Hello Laurenda, i have only one answer to give you. I really have't been here that long (as a member i mean) and i have always liked to talk to people, and the age was never a big deal to me. But it is good that this forum is here cus' i do understand that there's a need for a forum like this.
I have seen this forum but have usually gone to "Deeper Fellowship" as my wife goes there frequently. But today i wanted to expore a bit, so i came here  .
A bit about me though i have probably said this in my profile. I am an american but now i live in Norway with my wife who is 100% grade A, goverment inspected norwegian  . I am in my 40's ... as a matter of fact i turned 48 on sept. 29. Oh, and btw, i have been married now 1 yr and 3 months and have lived in Norway 1 yr and 4 months. Norway is a beautiful country! Just the sight of a snow capped mountain is awesome! Being here is deffinatly better that seeing it in a picture!
We live only 5 minutes walk from the ocean. I am a school boy once again, i take a norwegian langauge class about 28 hours a week. Though norwegian has a lot of words that are very similar to english norwegian is not an easy langauge learn. But many norwegians up to the age of 50, give or take a few years ... speak english very well. English is a mandatory subject in the schools, though i am not sure at what age they start. Well, i guess that is about it so i will let you give you eyes a bi of a rest, bye bye
