I agree with Darth, the transition might be rough, but it would probably be better in the long run

also, there are so many problems with under age drinking when young people are away at University, with half the population being allowed to drink and the other half not, it would just be simpler if the age was 18

I'm half-suprised we haven't had Holy McRighteous come in and be all "ALCOHOL IS EVIL, AND SHOULD BE OUTLAWED!!!!!"

A lot of 18 year olds are still in high school, and still living at home. Drinking under 17 would increase.
