SURE! THESE GUYS ARE A FEW OF MANY PEOPLE WHO CLAIM THAT THE EXISTENCE OF JESUS AND / OR HIS MIRACLES ARE PURELY ALLEGORICAL !

I'd disagree with them. But the important thing to remember is that neiither you nor they will necessarily lose salvation for not agreeing with everything about God. That's not how He will judge you. Look in Matthew 25. He's got a pretty good explanation of what matters. And his comment to the Pharisee; He told them to love God and love their neighbor; everything else depends on that.

Ironic that you should say that someone else isn’t God. Since you make up silly stories about the Nature that God created . In my book that’s blasphemy as you’re insulting God by lying about His Creation which even atheist mainstream scientists are not doing. IIRC I think he deliberately wrote a fake paper with lots of in crowd jargon and got it accepted because the journal just rubber stamped it instead of critiquing it

Just finished reading that Atlantic article. I actually enjoyed that.

I think it might be easier to pull of this hoax in journals of sociology or those related than at least in journals of geology. Just because the descriptive terms could be more broad as opposed to being derived by math or through figures and diagrams. But I would be interested to see a scientific version to see if it could be identified.

Basically, it was as protest against the flabby scholarship of postmodernism. Sokol, being a relatively well-known physicist, likely got his (intentionally nonsense) article into the journal because the editors were happy to have a "real scientist" take part in their ideas.
