• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why do you all think of downloading songs

A lot of bands have a motivation to lead people to Christ that do not put their music up to download for free. It is not alright to assume that because the band's motivation is to lead people to Christ, freeloading is acceptable. Perhaps the profits go to a specific charity that means something to the band. Maybe it funds them to go to places that are desperately in need of a christian revival. But even if it is just to make them rich, downloading music for free when the band does not explicitly state it is fine to do so is wrong.

The music industry is a joke. You dont believe me? Then ask yourselfs this: why are CD's more expensive than tapes? Because they want to milk us for as much money as humanly possible.

Dont get me wrong, I still buy CD's. But I'm not going to buy into the whole "we're stealing" thing, when the RIAA has been stealing our money for quite some time now.

If you actually looked up how much profit was used by Christian artists profits- for actual ministry, you'd be very very surprised. And disapointed.

I can't remember ever downloading a full commercial song. Only small 30 second clips or songs my friend have recorded in their home studios.

I wouldn't have a problem downloading a couple of songs to hear once or twice, but I would not feel right burning it to a CD instead of buying their music.

I guess it's a dog eat dog world out there huh feo. When someone steals from me you can be sure they're gonna get what's comin to 'em. In case you didn't notice I was being sarcastic and making a statement on how competitive the world is.
