  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Why do we persecute each other?

Rather than supporting and affirming each other so any of these threads go into argument and condemnation because we have different theological and world views. It is bad enough that as believers we have the non believing world to deal with. I am just thinking that we all can use a dose of humility and love when interacting with each other.

That was the whole point of Jesus' two commandments. Put God's will ahead of our own thus loving all as self. We humans have been known from the beginning for our selfish self serving self absorbed ways. It infiltrates everything including religion and ruins any chance of living free of the oppression of others seeking to dominate by way of their own will (including in Christianity). God said put others first but most fail to understand how this would bring about what you wish for. But good for you for dreaming. Hang onto it until Jesus returns to make it a reality and man loses the ability to lead or rule any longer. As Jesus said, His church was built upon the foundation of truth from God, not from man.

We love to correct each other. May be it does come out of love and care for others.
I think though like it often has as much to do with getting someone to agree with me, affirm my view.

Even then it can be done with kindness rather than whips.

Let me help you get the speck out of your eye. Oh, wait a minute. there is something else I must do first.

I agree with you Akita. One of the reasons is insecurity, some people think it will make them feel better about themselves if they put others down. Debate is great, but it's not right to persecute one another while you do it. Sadly, we're living in a very callous society these days.

Have you also maybe noticed that those who are most easily offended are also the ones who so easily offend others.\?
Perhaps I am one of them.
