  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why do we not wait on our gifts?

Do we fret when a fried call and say they have a gift for us? No, we wait patiently in anticipation of that gift. If we know our friend is trustworthy, loving, and generous, we rest knowing we will receive our gift soon!

Why can’t we wait on God like that? He is our Father, Friend, Protector, He is trustworthy, He loves us, and He has many gifts for us!

But we fret! The gifts God promises: peace, joy, resolution to problems, a change in our behaviors, and many more, instead of waiting, we run around trying to attain those things for ourselves. But Jesus said to rest in Him.

Why do we not wait on our gifts? I’m so guilty of this! There are many times It can be difficult for me to fully accept I do not have the power to change me, nor situations to my liking. So I find myself trying to do what God can only do by His Spirit - give me His Power to do! That’s His gift to us.

Sitting in the eye of the storm, is the place of peace where God is holding our hand: there we hide under the shadow of His wings. The storm is raging, and we can see it, but there in the eye of the storm, is our God, He is in control, calming the wind, and so we rest in our beautiful Creator who will make everything alright!

God bless you!

Amen! God made the storm for his own purposes AND for his own pleasure.

Part of our puzzlement is the "already, but not yet" facts. We have the victory, but we demand to see it NOW. Spoiled children. I have found a huge resolution of my impatience in the fact that this is not about me, but about Christ. God is doing precisely, exactly, in every detail, what he set out to do. The fact that it is painful does not mean that I can find no joy in the fact that God is using ME for what he made me for. THAT is praiseworthy, compelling adoration and love for God, and more than I deserve to even know about, nevermind to be included in.

What some people refer to as gifts ….are actually fruit of the gift.

There are seven gifts given to us

holy sprit the gift
5 gift ministries
Gifts of healings …..because every healing is a gift ….but, it is one of the manifestation of the spirit, given to all who have …holy sprit, the gift

I am sure its just me but what do you mean wait on the gifts? I fully know understand we pray we sing we worship and we wait on Him and renew our strength so forth so on. Now from what read and understand I already have gifts and the nine gifts by the sweet sweet holy spirit, well we all can be used in all of them as He wills. When you say gifts that's what I think of the nine gifts. I know what I have but I know He the sweet sweet holy Spirit can use me in all nine as He wills. That will only happen when I am around other people. Its always for others.

God has given all man kinds of gifts. Some use that gift God already gave for God some use it for the enemy. Now maybe you mean praying seeking to find out what you were already given.. praise God I do agree.

Sorry I wasn’t clear. Yes, we are given spiritual gifts, but I’m talking about the many blessings we receive from God, mostly answers to prayers, situations worked out, relationships made right, resolving difficulties, etc. when we rest in Him.

Most of the time we become anxious when waiting on God, especially when dealing with stressful circumstances. But in all cases there is a calm when we can rest in Christ in faith, and through that process of patiently waiting, we receive God’s gift of protection, answered prayers, miracles, etc.
